I just when out and removed the intake, then re-installed the stock upper radiator brackets. In the stock configuration, my radiator has between 1/16" and 3/16" of free play (due to the rubber grommets that are in the stock brackets), depending on where I push on the radiator. With the intake installed and without the stock upper brackets, my radiator has between 2/16" and 4/16" of free play, measured in the exact same locations. Honestly, we aren't taking about a whole lot of excess motion being allowed with this intake - it's literally allowing for 1/16" in additional movement. I think I can account for that extra 1/16 of inch - it's the amount of crushability (is that even a word? ) of the rubber gaskets that run down front sides of the air deflector to prevent it from resting directly on the core support.I had no idea that the stock radiator configuration even had free play built into it until I started working with Vararam. I never had a reason to check because I assumed it was still rock solid locked to the core support like all metal radiators used to be. Since the stock radiator is a combination of metal and plastic, it needs to have some degree of movement allowed in how it's mounted since the two materials expand/contract at different rates. If the radiator was locked in solid, you'd run the risk of cracks or broken seals where the plastic and metal meet. Next time you have the hood open on your Camaro [and the radiator is cold Hope that helps out with the info on how this intake affects radiator support. EDIT: One last thing - like I said before, I don't plan on running with the stock upper brackets (modified or not). Installing them with the intake seems like overkill. If you do install them, then you run the risk of pinching the gaskets on the air deflector between the deflector and the core support. Personally, I'd rather leave that little bit of extra movement than bind up the intake assembly when the motor moves. Time to go put some miles on this car...good driving weather...hard to beat 75 degrees and mostly sunny!

I don't think the surface area of that filter is adequate or large enough to filter out the dirt without frequent cleaning....but what do I know?

Before anyone gets excited I am working on a unit also and will bring to market. It simply involves cutting a hole in the middle of your hood a sticking your filter up through the hoods where it just rests on the hood. All the cold air you want and it will look real good to. Should get you 60+hp. Currently taking pre-orders at only 399.99.

![]() You are more than welcome to drive down to TX and drive my car with this intake on it. Heck, I'll even swap back to the stock intake so you can do a proper comparison. Seriously, just let me know when you arrive in Houston and I'll give you directions.

This does seem to be the comparison that most of you want to see. Personally, I don't see Vararam funding the dyno time to do this though.
