The powers that be should force cell phone carriers and makers to disable the texting feature if the phone is in motion.

What about people in ur car not driving?

Laws will never fix this problem. The only hope is to properly educate people.

Ive seen some pretty crazy things people do while driving.

Once saw a lady eating noodles with a fork out of a square styrofoam container perched up against her steering wheel.

I've seen many lady's doing some kind of weird thing with there eyes, looks like a torture device.

Saw this teen girl with both her hands through the holes in her steering wheel and her phone up against the speedo, texting. She was steering with her fore arms. CRAZY

People reading books, saw a guy with a news paper fully spread out covering the entire steering wheel and dash. Not sure how he was steering.
List goes on and on.

The only thing all these people have in common, is they obviously think those actions are ok and are not fully aware of the dangers they pose to them and people around them.

She was still texting after see got out of the car.

Could someone please translate that second comment for me? I got the first one as "You're right" , and the third one as "texting after SHE got out" but I can't figure the second comment

Saw at least 4 people texting while driving today. They were weaving back and forth, speed control was crap, and they either tailgated or screwed up traffic by not knowing where they were going.

It's illegal in NC.

One of the best things about my Camaro and Windows Phone is it reads my texts to me. I put my phone far away from me now so I'm not even tempted.

see lots of that here in a college town. Lots of stupid sorority girls texting driving their trucks or four runners. I hope I'm never in their path.

Should be illegal under federal law. Texting while driving is insanity. What is so important that it can't wait till you can stop saftely and then answer. For those states where it illegal it needs to be enforced with vigor.

It should be and needs to be but it's not. It's only illegal here if you're under 18. It's also illegal for someone under 18 to talk on the phone while driving and if you get caught they take your license until you are 18.

More often than not when I find myself in the middle lane around my neighborhood I can look to my left and right and the people will be using their cell phones. I'd say 30% of the time the person is typing or reading something on their screen and 60% of the time they are at least holding the phone up to their ear. A good 90% of the time when I get behind slow traffic in the left lane it turns out the driver is on the phone.

Some people will have to be inconvenienced.
The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few.
