I'm 21, think push to start is sick too, just not in this case.
For nostalgia and connectedness factors, my car needs to have a key. Thank goodness I was able to still get a Camaro before they all go to Push Button Start. Only a matter of a few years before all cars have PBS, why? Because imho it's cheaper to manufacture - less mechanical parts.

Probably already on the Lexus drawing board, Skyman. That and the auto-detect nose wiper, LoL!!

Didn't feel like reading through 3 pages...

Push button start would be cool, it's easy enough to add yourself -not sure I would want it after watching a Top Gear episode...

If push button start had been standard, I would not have bought this car. It is not safe. It is a security nightmare. Push button start vehicles are the easiest cars in the world to steal. If you don't believe me, do a little research. All you have to do is buy a receiver and walk within ten feet of the keys, because they are ALWAYS TRANSMITTING. This is true of the RFID credit cards as well, which has led to major identity theft issues. Why go through all of that just to have a stupid little gadget that is becoming passe anyway? Is it really that hard to turn your key in the ignition?

Besides, I like playing with my switchblade key anyway.

Anyone ever had push to start fail on them?

Keyfob dies randomly or wifes purse gets stolen with the key inside?

First you are dead stuck, call a tow truck, and then you are out $600+ if it is not a warranty fix. I've seen enough people get stuck at random places because a keyfob decides to stop working that I would not want it.

It's no different w/ push to start...

If the fob dies your stuck with push to start because the chip can't be verified.

If the fob is stolen, you're just as SOL as you would be w/o push to start.

Otherwise anyone could bust the window and drive off...

I'm surprised no commented on the Top gear video I posted previously... They show you can drive w/o the key... at least within range.

I actually don't mind having to turn the key with this car. If I had a "luxury" vehicle then probably a different story.

Some of you people are making me laugh. You talk about it not belonging in muscle cars and we don't need the car to drive us and auto nose wiping.

Those power brakes and steering sure is nice. No? And all that goes along with it.

But try and remember noone is saying it's a must. It's just a cool feature. Ever sat down in the car because your hands were full or whatever and had to lift up to get the key out of your pocket? YES, you have. Was it a real challenge? NO, it wasn't. But would have been nice (AS A COOL FEATURE) to just reach up and hit the button.

Makes no difference to me. But I think it's a cool feature. Put your key in your pocket and forget it. Bonnie puts hers in her purse and NEVER has to touch it. Car stays locked when she walks away and unlocks when she touches it. She can never leave her purse at home, or at the restaurant. Car won't even unlock without it. It's just a cool feature.

Why not just put those old radios with the push knobs with the strings on them that pull the radio dial indcator to the correct stations?

I'd LOVE to swap my car to get away from the computer. I'll agree there.

But I embrace the technology of he convenience features. I won't have this car 25 years from now. So I'm not worried about it.

I have. Plymouth Volary and a Buick Regal. One of them just locked up. The other got lose and the car would die if it shook the wrong way.

Yes there's a backup. What happens if you lose your keys. There's another one. And it's just a small battery you can get anywhere. Plus, in all the years I've had a key fob, I've NEVER ONCE had it just die and not work.

Yes, actually. But minisculy.

However, it's not that that we're talking about. It's being able to keep it in your pocket and never have to take it out.

No leaving your keys in the store. No losing them. No fishing for them when your hands are full. Just convenient. Not necessary. That's all we're saying.

Plymouth Volary and a Buick Regal. The Buick actually left Bonnie stranded. The ignition was lose inside. The car would die even while running. And not start until the key cylinder was jiggled enough to make whatever contact it needed. The Plymouth just locked up. NO keys would work.

Why would you have to pick? We're talking about push button start. Not remote start.

Honestly, there are dozens of "would be nice to haves" that would be aswesome additions to the Camaro (electronic passenger seat, push to start, navigation, park assist, etc.).

But then, I wouldn't be able to afford a Camaro as it would be priced up there with the luxury cars.

In Bonnies Lexus, the car wouln't start if the key was not inside. I did the test. Held the key outside the car and it wouldn't start, brought the key in and it started. Also, if the key was inside the car, the car would not lock.

You could have got an LS3 with pushbutton start if you wanted.
