Always try and go under your comprehensive insurance. To do that in this situation you would have to say the chair fell from another car and hit your car (without it hitting the ground first). Your premiums shouldn't go up in that situation.

I thought the same thing but it's probably too late now that he's called them. Most people around here have a $500.00 comp ded anyway. Either way, best to cancel this claim.
Even 2 or 3 "hit while parked" or comp claims and you will be toast with most insurance companies.

On the way to the Grand Canyon after Camaro5Fest II, a gator jumped up and bit my car (truck tire tread). Smashed in the whole front bottom of the bumper and broke the grill. It was about $800 total to replace and paint it at my local chevy dealer. I could have shopped around but I wanted it fixed right when I got home!
