Flat tax of about $200, $100 Federal A/C Excise Tax, Federal Safety Inspection ($50-100), GST (5% of "Canadian $ equivalent") and Prov. ST or HST (combined GST + PST).

IF the vehicle is non-NAFTA assembled, add 6.1% import duty.

Any American-based Manufacturers' incentives re: financing etc. (other than CASH rebates) do NOT apply. It's pretty hard for an American financier to repossess a vehicle situated in Canada... Leasing, as well, does not apply.

General Motors of Canada is a wholly-owned subsidiary of General Motors Corp., so who do you suspect sets "policy", in the final analysis, re: distribution of final product?

My father in law buys all his trucks from Texas with a close friend of his who is a US citizen. He pays for the truck, his friend registers it in his name at the dealership and then gifts it to my father in law and avoids having to pay duty. There is some paperwork involved with transport canada but it's a relatively simple process. He did get stung by dodge one year because the north american warranty package doesn't cover vehicles in Canada but he ended up buying 3rd party warranty on the Internet for it cheaper than the extended warranty dodge sells you. Guess we're considered far north america up here... Lol

Just talked to my dealership. Said the ZL1 is showing up in Autobook now. No prices yet but it is available to order in Canada. Sweet.
