That's true considering the new TVS is more efficient as well.

Too bad the extra 70hp won't help...lol. nice try though. ZL1 is still twice the car Ford boys...so keep dreaming.

Yah, I'm gonna spend 55k on a car plus another 5k in engine upgrades and then void the waranty. Simple solution: make it class leading straight from the factory.

I am buying a ZL1 because I want a ZL1. I could care less if the GT500 is 5000 hp. I think if anyone wants a GT500 then go buy one!!

True Dat !

I would like to see an optional package from GM or GMPP that retains the warranty and bumps the HP up over 600 while retaining the warranty.

ZL1 is currently a vat of awesomesauce, but I'll take a little extra sauce on the side if I can get it.

Edit: That reminds me, I need to go on a diet to help my quarter mile times.

No; 70 extra HP, a couple hundred pounds less weight, and a proper launch control, couldn't possibly help.

This is all very nice, but you know which will go down in the history books as being the most powerful factory muscle car available in 2013..? Yeah; not the ZL1.

No doubt they'll both be awesome cars, that any of us would love to play with. If I could afford them all, I'd have a few of each in my garage.

Much more of a slap than if we gave the zl1 more power to make the numbers more on par.

Yes it would. but the ford guys are smart, and excellent at what they do. they bumped the Hp 70 over to guarantee no matter the traction issues they beat the ZL1 on the strip and I'm sorry, at the track. I dont think even the Mag susp can make up for 70hp at the ring, if it could, they would have boosted it more. I am well aware the LSA is not forged, but it can take more boost. The ZL1 needs it, and deserves it. And needs it in 2012, NOT 2013.

Someone at last has a brain, this is one thing I hate about my car.

LS motors are able to spin up more quickly due to the less intricate valve train... hence it is better at low end torque ...

which isn't always good. even at 630 at the crank with the suspension I have... I can't make mine stick on street tires. so enough torque is never the issue.... LOL

Where each motor shows it's strength is what I was addressing.
Since when does the engine care how the air gets introduced to the cylinder? If anything the DOHC engine has the advantage of being able to have phasers on the intake and exhaust cams witch will broaden the tq curve (by varying the valve timing) a substantial amount over an engine that does not have the same capability. How do the F-150, Silverado and Ram compare with V8's in the 5 liter range? I agree with what your saying about high rpm but to say they (DOHC) have a disadvantage making low rpm tq is not true.

Silverado 5.3 335 ft lbs @ 4000, F-150 5.0 380 ft lbs 4250.

You do realize the gt500 will/can have electronic suspension that will probably be a great setup? People seem to think it won't handle but I think it will do very well.

You can always do what I did. Buy a used low mileage z06 for $40k, put a blower on it and make 700rwhp and not worry about ZL1s or Gt500s.

I said that push rod motors make low end torque better than DOHC motors..

I never said that DOHC don't make enough low end torque, they both make more than they need.

LS motors just make it "better" in a lower RPM range. And loose it at the higher RPM ranges. Vice versa for the DOHC

And if your position regarding how A/F gets introduced into the cylinder was accurate, Then there would be no torque difference between Twin screw, roots or centrifugal blowers... since they all are mechanically driven and make boost in proportion to the RPM...

Which is not the case. each type of blower makes torque and power differently on the same engine...

The same is true for the Push Rod vs DOHC.. they make power in different RPM ranges.

That's all I'm saying.
