Unless you have No spoiler and wish to add this one! then it is a clear winner! easy bolt on!
You have clearly and accurately explained your way of doing it..If I do not like your option then I must come up with my own. Hence the discussion. Since I do not own a body shop...modifying.... (since you seem not to like my slang term of "hacking") my trunk lid is not an option for me.... Modifying the spoiler in my case would seem to me to be a more viable option given that I do not want an aftermarket spoiler, I want the ZL1 spoiler... Thank you for the time and effort you have put into this so far and I am sure it will be beneficial to many people but understand yours may or may not be the only way. I am not endorsing my way by any means...again Hence the discussion you interjected yourself into... I am sure there are people out there like myself that do not wish to alter the trunk lid on their Camaro making it a costly modification and one that would be just as costly to reverse if they so desired. I stand behind my original statement but will rephrase it for your sensibilities..I would rather modify a $200 spoiler than to attempt to modify a much more expensive trunk lid. If I destroy the spoiler in the process I can dispose of it ,no harm, no foul. I am only out the cost of the spoiler. My trunk lid on the other hand is a much more costly mistake. I am only kicking around ideas and getting input as to how I may make my idea work so getting the face palm from you and having you suggest a different spoiler are not helpful..If I want your advice I will solicit it..

as a side; Ofer you really are an asset to this site..your DIY prowess is unmatched..

Ok, easy. Do the bolts circled in red match up? If so, couldnt you just remove the bolts circled in yellow and 3m the area marked in blue to prevent water intrusion? If the red bolts do not match, I see the problem.

Here is the problem it is not the 2 extra studs, you need to drill 2 holes for them on top (5/16") but on the inside you need to drill with a hole saw(1") you need 2 more holes in the front for the aligning plastic studs, and last you need to drill 1 (3/8") hole for the brake light wire, So that is all the holes you need to drill, now for the 3 holes that the spoiler does not cover, here is the big problem, the way the spoiler is made the brake light sits at a 45 degrees to the trunk lid , so its open under the brake light, that lives the 3 old holes open, the only way to fix this is by moving the brake light.

my original thought was if you take off all the studs but the 4 that look like they will line up and use 3m that should hold it BUT...I didn't know if the holes under the brake light could be seen...evidently they can be..

does it look like there is a way to make a filler piece to change the break light lens angle to cover the holes, use the existing holes for a place to route the wires and add a stud to anchor the center of the spoiler..?

The three holes in the middle must be filled so it seem since the lamp does not cover them.

Since my car has paint chips, the dealer asked me to bring it on Monday to have it painted under warranty.
I will ask them to fill those three holes and I hope they will not refuse.

I have attached the bulletin for the paint chip which has been posted by thinggin2 in another thread

I used a Controvertible spoiler and used foam to make the shape that looked the best, Then it got laminated with ply wood and fiber glassed.
