Is anyone hearing any good info from their dealership? Since GM started building on March 16th I've called about once a week and have gone a couple weeks before calling, but they (dealership) never have any information. I seem to give them the scoop and they also seem annoyed when I call. It's not like I'm calling every day or anything. I tried to tell them that I think I know my VIN, but they don't want any part of it.

Damn, if I had not already put money down I would go somewhere else. I know the dealership can't hurry up GM and make them ship, but they should at least give me some news once in a while.

In one of the other posts someone said that May 5th was going to be a big day and lots of Camaros would start rolling in. Mine has supposedly been built since the week of March 23rd, but I was told today it still has not shipped and that was basically it.

Anyone hearing any good news?

I wouldn't go for GM's throat on this. I'm sure Avis pre-ordered cars just like everyone else. So some dealership in Atlanta got one of their pre-orders. That's just 1.

Just because it's on their website right now, doesn't mean you can go to any location and drive off in one. I too am in Chicago, and none in this area. If avis had tons of camaros now, there would be at least one here now, but there's not.

For all we know, that one in Atlanta is the ONLY one that avis is currently renting out.

Pre-order or not, I'm sure GM is waiting for the official launch date to get most of these out into people's hands.

That's not surprising. I came down to a dealership with documents on the Camaro that they hadn't seen. Prices, standards/options, specs.... some dealers don't know a thing about the Camaro. I've gotten more valuable info from Camaro5 than I have from the dealers.

Relax, man. Only a thousand (+/-) have been shipped. Most of them are all on these forums.

You shouldn't have paid over sticker, we have a thread on the forums for people honoring discounts and things.

My car is still at Oshawa and its VIN 2175. I really think everyone should just relax.

Cheer up, dude!

You haven't received your car yet...

You haven't signed on the dotted line... or did you?

Everything is negotiable

If they put up a fight, tell them "Charging me extra wouldn't be the best if you don't want me to back out of this deal."

Use Camaro5 to your advantage. Print out a bunch of material on pricing people are getting on these forums.

I went in to the dealer with a list of other dealers within a 25 mile radius that were charging MSRP.

...don't have my ride yet either. But I'm not upset that there are a ton of them going to rental companies. AVIS is a customer just like the rest of us - - only with a lot more money to throw around.

I called the Avis 800 number with no luck. They gave me the direct number in Atlanta, so I called and sure enough they have (1) 2010 Camaro for rent. However, you have to reserve that category of car and can only get it if it's there when you arrive. There are other cars in that category (according to them) that you might get instead. So, in a nutshell they will not let you reserve the Camaro!!!!!!! Damn, I can't wait to drive one........

Nice, good info. Can't wait to get behind the wheel of that beast! I'll call the 800 number in a week or so hopefully they'll get some around here.

ONE car available in the city of ATL, so much for that idea of renting one, you might as well buy a lottery ticket. I hope this makes those who preordered feel better, if GM was ignoring customers for the sake of producing rental fleets then there would be more cars available than this.

it seems really strange that GM would push the V6 model so hard and then deliver V8 models to the rental car companies knowing that this is the "enthusiast" car... probably not the best decision on GM's part

I dunno, I think it was a good choice. Then again, this might just be with Avis. Maybe other companies will only order the V6. I was surprised when I saw that Avis had an SS. I usually only see the cheapest model of a car at rental places...
