However, what statistical evidence do you have to support your statement that most of the initial new ZL1s, which are not yet museum pieces and are vehicles that are specifically designed to be driven at the track, "will simply be used to take up a parking space at a cruise-in/car show?"

Based on the discussions here on Camaro5 it appears to me that many, if not most, of the Camaro5 ZL1 owners, will drive their ZL1s at venues where they will be doing much more than sitting in a parking space.
Experience and observation of what goes on/went on with similar niche cars in the recent past? Range Rovers are/were specifically designed as off-road vehicles, but how many ever get used in that capacity by the majority of their buyers?

It appears that your and my anecdotal experiences are quite different. Most of the American high performance niche muscle cars that I have come across that were built with some level of competition in mind were put to just that use, for example the COPO Camaros, Novas, and Chevelles, and the Hemi Cudas, Chargers, and Challengers, and the Boss 429 Mustangs, and Grand Nationals, etc.

I can't comment on the breakdown of Range Rover usage.

Well if they can do it in a 60 grand CTS v they can at least do some of it in a ZL1.

THANK god most people and car companies don't think like this. We would still have crank up windows, solid rear axles, no air conditioning, or HUD's.

Do I really need to justify a better than plastic all door panel for 60 large??

60K for a Camaro with out of this world performance is not a bad price. If you looked at the video I posted the turbo japanese cars of the 90s were selling for 50K. The bigger problem is people in general are not making much more money than in the 90s. If salaries keep up with the price of everything else we would not even question the ZL1 price tag. Camaros, and Mustangs have always been a working mans toy, the problem today is the working man is not making as much money.

A used 2010 CTS-V is 60K, not a new one. The ZL1 is a performance car, other performance cars suffer the same lack of modern goodies to.

Just my opinion.
I hope I see a lot of you at Track days with your new ZL1's. It will be fun.

You may convince youself your friends your wife...ect but 60G's is a LOT of money for a toy.....I'm betting most could/should be doing somthing better with the money to move their family forward.

Having said that, I want one too.
The difference between Men and Boys is the price of their toys. I'm still working my way to the Ultimate Mustang, an Aston Martin DBS.

How about a 60 k c63? Don't tell me its not possible. I can expect a 60k car to be modern. It doesnt need moving zenon headlights, or side motion sensors, or be able to parrallel park itself. It can use a stinking dual zone auto adjusting HVAC, and a decent center stack with a modern feel to it. Or at least an upgraded seat option. Is the ZL1 going to at least come with floor matts? Nothing fancy or luxury about what just about every car comes with.

Not sure if anyone's commented on this: Have any of the ZL1 buyers looked to see if insurance will increase with the new car (assuming you had an SS or comparable)?

My speculation is that those of us who are adding the ZL1 to a stable of vehicles and will be using the ZL1 as a pleasure vehicle will not see much, if any, of an extra insurance premium, while those who will be using the ZL1 as a daily driver replacement of a lesser performance vehicle will see an insurance premium increase.
