Here is why. Proteins are the building blocks of your body and muscle synthesis requires proteins. Protein synthesis requires all eight essential amino acids. The non essential aminos can be produced by the body. Non animal sources of protein lack the amino acids with the exception of quenoa. When you consume protein and all 8 amino's are not present at the same time your body has to break down existing protein sources(muscle) to get them, you actually canabolize your own muscle to acheive this. You cannot use your muscles for food and build them at the same time. Also pushups are considered a whole body exercise as you use all of the major muscles to stabilize your position and perform the exercise BUT only a few muscles are directly targeted enough to break down muscle fibre, breaking down muscle fibre and then healing them is what makes them bigger, from the pictures there are well developed muscles that are not directly targeted by pushups, the same goes for sit ups. So either he's not totally candid about his exercise routine or his diet.

Now some people say they are vegeterians because they don't eat meat but any supplements such as whey protein are derived from animal sources, protein suplements such as soy whey does not contain the essential amino's, so if he's supplementing with whey protein he is not a true vegeterian. Something doesn't add up, I'm leaning towars steroid or growth hormones myself But even with steroid use you STILL NEED PROTEIN.

This is not my opinion it's science.

i totally agree with you 100%. I would definitely lean towards HGH. But I am for sure not one to knock him for using performance enhancers. But as you said, protein is a MUST!

+1... or even more than one. He might only do pushups and situps and running NOW... but he definitely did something else to get that size to begin with.

As a side note... the diet that skips breakfast and lunch, and eats all the food at dinner time is called "the warrior diet". You basically eat until you almost throw up at dinner, and fast the rest of the day.

Thats been his diet routine since college. And, I dont disagree with all of that protein stuff, but too many people just hitting the weights is the only way to get ripped.

Another example Usher, never used weights only body weight, pull ups, sit ups, dips, stuff like that.

No freaking way I could do that.

1. I'm hungry 24/7 though I'm practically ALWAYS eating.
2. Low blood sugar = I'd pass out by lunch hahaha.

I am a believer for the no weights, our body's weight is more than sufficient for building properly. However, I'm pretty sure the "warriors diet" stopped as a fad towards the end of the battle of Thermopylae. ;-)

I wouldn't be able to do it either, I'd pass out by lunch as well. Ok, maybe right before dinner.

Oh I would never do that diet I just know what it is. And yeah, you can definitely get toned up using only body weight, but weights are going to greatly enhance that look, and quickly... but you're not doing much "building" using that... unless you are genetically blessed. I believe Usher completely. He's not a very big guy. But there comes a point in a body where you need to be doing some sort of resistance... even if it's sports. Play football? Pushing people around is more than using ones own body weight. And that dude played football (it's in his pictures). I highly doubt he had a football coach that was like "No! Stay out of that weight room!" Manual labor job? That'll do it too. The point isn't that you can't look amazing using only your body weight, but it's near impossible to get "big" doing that

You can build a muscular body with body weight exercises but not with just push ups and sit ups, they do not directly target enough muscle groups and eventually you will plateu, that is why you always stick with a routine untill it is not producing results and then change it up.

There's only so many lunges and free squats you can do before your legs would be like "is that all you got?!"
