my thoughts exactly! I would get a stage 2 mod for sure if GM offered it.

I agree, the Shelby is rolling down the line as we speak and NO numbers from the Ford camp. I am not saying they might not have us in the straight line, but all that HP will NOT translate to a car that is as good overall as the ZL1. If the Shelby's bite was bigger than its bark, Ford would have leaked its numbers by now. I think Fords most complete car will continue to be the Boss 302 Laguna Seca edition. |

I just keep reverting to "the style"..... and the origins from which it is derived and based. Compare that and then add the totality of the ZL1..... My guess is that if you made everyone who was going to buy one drive both cars first, slam the doors, listen to the raindrops on the roof, hit a few potholes, etc there would be a groundswell of orders at one factory over the other. IMHO....... And I have no reason to be prejudice. But then again, it's just an opinion. (But I have driven the competition). |

at this point I would be happy if GM would have a factory (warrantied) tune that allow the install of a CAI. Still pulling for GM to come out with a stage 2 kit, but even if they don't I will be outsourcing an aftermarket upgrade such as Hennessey or Lingenfelter.

VERY ironic. Why would I want to pay to have something less desirable? Let's see, should I date Kate Beckinsale, or Ugly Betty?

OK, that is sad but very plausible, even very probable. But if GM did install such upgrades as a " ZL1 V " from the factory, the acceleration war between the Camaro ZL1 and F*** Mustink would be at parity again, and we all know we have them beat on the road course. Can you imagine the magazine covers? Sounds like a winning idea to me. ... but I'll do it myself if I have to. I just want the factory model to clearly win the bragging rights contest.

First of all, you can make the hp of the mustang in the zl1 and still stay below the costof the 500 that is outfitted to try to be competitive to the Z.
Z is still a better car at that point due to a better suspension and handling package.

It is pretty easy and not too expensive to get quite a substantial bump in power from the LSA. I'm about to pull the trigger right now some changes to help it breathe better and still run cool in time for Camaro5 Fest.
It would be nice though to still have the peace of mind that some glitch that could show up in the driveline at 30k miles won't be blamed on my bump in power and denied warranty coverage. |

Look at the base price listed. Not too sure what to make of all of this. Very daunting odds to overcome if this is real.

Now maybe if GM had offered the LS9 as an optional engine, no more issues for those concerned with a stang bang. It would have cost less to have an LS9 in the engine bay than to upgrade the LSA (I think)... but I'm not feeling the "daunting odds" you are. Hint: Just jump it out of the hole by .2 of a second and save yourself $10,000 and a whole lot less gas mileage!?? You can't fix what ain't broke... and the ZL1, IMHO, is perfect! |
