I apologize too all that have been following this thread. I have been going through a buyback with GM and the closing is the 11/13/12. I will regretfully no longer need this hurst shifter with the installed (Hurst Race Bushing). I will be putting this shifter up for sale!!!! It will include the bushing i posted a few pics of in this thread and (1) Hurst black shifter knob w/button and all original parts with the shifter. There is a little side to side play but absolutely no wear at all!!! Shifting is as smooth as your going too get period. Again the bushing in this shifter is a Hurst prototype 1st version i will also include a skip shift eliminator also. It is for sale so pm me an offer if you like. The worst i can say is NO! No Returns as is!!!!

I have 2 SS Camaros, a 10 and a 12. I have had the Hurst in both cars since new, over 3 years in the 10 and 15 months in the 12. The 10 has an early production shifter and currently has 57k on it, its my primary driver and I tend to be an aggressive gear changer, it had a ton of play so I installed NH-SS bushings in it a while ago. It eliminated 99% of the play, but one thing I have noticed is that I now get quite a but of trans noise that is transmitting through the shifter, but it fits and shifts great.
My 12 has 9k on it and my wife is the primary driver, she is very easy on it and that shifter has been nice and tight since day one, no compliants at all.
I spoke to Kenji at great length and when they were available he sent my a set of the new style bushings, the race ones were still under development. I installed the new set in the 12 and there was really no difference, then again it had no play to start with. I then installed the new ones in the 10 and that took care of the vibration noise that was transmitting through with NH-SS bushings but had a tiny bit of play. Well 7k and a few track days and the new ones had started to loosen up, before it got real loose I reinstall my solid bushings, thats when I realized how really annoying the trans noise that comes through is. I am waiting on Kenji to send me some of the race versions to try out.
Running the performance dept here I have installed a lot of Hurst shifters here and a few of the other brands as well and I have noticed on the Hurst units the ones that have issues are the ones that are driven like I drive. I rip thru the gears almost all the time, My wife and my clients that shift them normally dont tend to have issues.
I applaud Hurst for listening to there clients and fixing the ones that have issues.
As I examined the new race version, I feel this will be the perfect fix, cant wait to try it out.
As a side note, while I really like how nice and tight NH-SS bushings makes the shifter, my wife hates it, its to tight she says. As I pondered her comments I started thinking, I have sold 3 Hurst units to 3 lovely camaro ladies and when I spoke to them all, they all told me the same thing, they felt the Hurst was to tight right after I installed them but within a week of driving it had broken in and was perfect. They love the shorter throw and the feel of the Hurst.
So my conclusion is that since we all have different driving styles at least we have a choice with the Hurst, normal driving for the stock bushing, aggressive driving with the h/d bushing and animal style for the race bushing.
I hope this helps some of you, if anyone has any questions please PM me.

Has anyone seen or used the phasteck performance bushings? They seem very similar to nh-ss's.

Well Hurst is sending me a two updated bushings with the o-rings. Yes hes said two!

That tells me they still wear out??? I think I will go with NH-SS brass bushings.
I don't want to keep having to do the reinstall.

? how do you guys like the brass ones.

I had a good 1.5 inches of play in mine. I installed the NH-SS bushings a couple months ago. I now have less that 1/8 inch of play. The shifter feels so mush better now. The new bushings do have some noise but it isn't bad (at least not to me) and the difference in the feel of the shifter makes the vibration noise acceptable.

The new Hurst "Race" bushing might be a better alternative but I'm not taking it apart again to find out.

A lot of reading on this issue....I wouldn't be surprised if I missed the important part but am I correct if I say this issue is still current if I purchase a Hurst short throw today??
