SS, I have the Super Tensioner and I wanted to move my idler pulley over like yours. How the hell do I do it? I loosened the idler and then lost another 1/4" Ted told me to use a pry bar off my throttle body, but that only wound up bending the rim ...Any help would be appreciated

It can be done by yourself but another set of hands helps!

I also have the Super Tensioner. My problem is that before I installed it we went with a shorter belt to try and stop the belt slip. So now I have about 1-1/2" gap between my pullies with the super tensioner installed and set per Ted. Ted also told me the shorter belt would not be a problem even though it changed the point of contact on the Jack shaft pulley due to the spacing. Do you agree?

It's hard to picture what your set up looks like but we have a saying in the JRE click...... "What Ted Says.....". . He knows what he is doing. We do as instructed and always have great success. If he told you how to do it than I wouldn't question it. Im sure it's right.

So get a skinny pry bar or screwdriver, go off the meaty part of TB, loosen the 15mm bolt on idler, gently pry towards passenger side, then tighten? I don't have to do anything to tensioner right? Thanks for your quick reposne, I'm having a bad hour with this! |

Would it be wrong to remove the belt and slide the idler pulley most, if not all the way over to the tensioner, then take the tension off the tensioner and slip the belt on? That would seem to be the best way to get them as close as possible.

Yup!! That's 100% correct. Make the two pulleys almost touch then tighten the 15mm bolt. The pulleys will relax a mm or 2.

I'm pretty sure you'll never get the belt back on this way.

gotcha.
I just installed the tensioner today and I think I didn't get it tight enough. I shredded a belt. The belt moved forward and was hanging over the tensioner and sc pulley. Was this caused by not enough tension at high rpm or another issue?

Did you get out of the gas quickly then right back into it? That kills belts like crazy. A loose belt will most likely slip unless it's crazy loose and is able to hop off. A mid aligned pulley will also throw a belt.
