I have multiple opinions about this.

1. 16 year olds are just starting to drive, so it is not a good idea to give such a high performance car to them off the bat. I wrecked my first vehicle at 17 1/2, that was a year and a half after I started driving - and it was a tahoe!

2. I think that if the parents bought it for the kids they are spoiled rotten and should earn it. I was never handed anything in my life. I borrowed my first truck from my parents which was an 89 blazer, I bought my tahoe with my own money and have been buying my own vehicles ever since. When you work to earn something you appreciate it more, so I don't know if the kids really appreciate the car like they should.

3. It is a kick ass car that anybody who earns it deserves to have. If those 16 year olds spent their life savings (wish I had allowances like that) to get the car - good for them! However, back to #1

I think it is unfair to group all 16 year olds as the same.

I grew up in a medium class family that was strugling to make ends meet. My parents gave me my first car with many strings attached. It was was a 1967 mercury. The passenger side rear quarter was crushed from a crash and the car was a huge boat. I spent my early years fixing this car up and I loved it. Growing up I stayed in trouble and I blew school off like it was a joke. My parents attempted to use the car as leverage for me to do well and follow rules. It did not work because I thought I bad everything figured out. As I look back on those years I see I was alittle shit and my parents did more for me than they ever should have.

The way I see it is it's the parents responsabilty to raise there kids to do right. Keep in mind no matter what you do sometimes a mid is still going to be a kid. It's the parents judgement call to determain if there kid deserves or is responsable enough fir a high powered sports car. If the kid kills themself in the car it's something re parent has to live with. Not you.

If my wife And I are ever blessed with having children I would deffintly want to be able to to give them the joy of having things I could not have as a kid do to financial strain. Since our buisness resolves around racing it's no suprise I will start my kids off in racing carts, Jr dragsters, dirtbikes and move them up to cars. It will be my responsability to determain if my kids are capable of handling the responsibility of a high hp car. I will make the decision off school grades, responsibility, gratefulness, common since, and driving skills.

If my kids act anything like I did at that age I don't care how much money we have they will be lucky to have a pinto handed to them.

Don't get me wrong I have seen alot of kids get out in cars they have no buisness in but some kids have earned what there parents buy them.

Just my 2 cents

A whole range of people are going to have Camaros. From those who cant afford one and have one anyway, to those who spend 80K for a 600+HP Camaro.

Its not about who has one but what you do with it. Are you going to customize it? Will it be totaled in the first week?... things like that.

I guess anyone can have a stock Camaro, my opinion is the fun starts when you personalize it.

Shouldn't it take less than 10k to get a 600 hp camy?

to me this quote is ridiculous. You don't know these kids at all. Maybe they're the most responsible kids at the school who get straight A's in the hardest classes the school offers. Maybe they work and play a sport on top of all their school and paying for some of the car. Not every teenager is reckless.
