Made a few updates to post #1. We already have a good list of confirmed attendees, and if we move the "maybes" up, it'll be a heck of a group.

Again, we'll post a sign-up list soon.

I'm also wondering in any local CT folks would in some way be able to get a standard sized grill (gas or otherwise) to the park. We've got some scouts heading to the park this weekend, and we know that there are grills available, but not many...My only concern is not being able to keep up with the grilled food. We are alowed outside grills though, but I know most people won't want to bring them in their cars, rightfully so. But if anyone knows a way to get a standard grill in, that would work out. Thinking about it, even those smaller ones with the little bottles would work too. Anyone?

Who's bringing what??
Any plans for food or utensils yet Capt?
Here is another suggestion I talked to the wife and we both agreed it may be easier to have it at someone's house .....Mine maybe?? i'm a little farther north of middle town but then we do not need to worry about grill's... stores if we need anything... pizza shops near by and I have plenty of room for maybe 50 cars?!! and still set up volley ball and play some horseshoes ... if need be there is a school in walking distance to play some ball (if no leagues are playing) ...totale up to all of you here are a few pic's of my backyard.
And if it's warm enough bring a bathing suit the pool should be open by then...just can't predict the temp.
OH! and easy off and on the highway 84 1/4 mile away

It's not just up to me at this point. This is a joint venture. I do like the idea, and thank you for the offer. I still need to get the skinny from the NJ crew who scoped out the site today.

Okay, so some of us went to CT yesterday to check out the park...it's fairly easy to get to and there is enough parking spots to fit at least 60 cars. There are two different spots where you could have a BBQ on tho, one of them is the main entrance which consists of gravel, I know some of you probably wouldn't want to park on tiny little rocks and I totally understand that. Next to the parking lot/gravel lot is where the park pretty much begins and there's grills and tables and a small pond with sand around it. Cars would still be visible from the picnic area so that's kind of a plus. It's an open field with not much of a shade but it's still doable. The second entrance, where there's the falls; its about 2 miles up and that has a parking lot that can hold up to 24 cars. Now I know so far we have the def and we have alot of members that are still at maybe...so parking up there would be tough especially if we're gonna end up having more cars then parking spots.:( that area does have 3 grills and 3 tables. It's shaded and right next to the fall. If you want I'll post up pics so this way we can all agree if this is doable...I also spoke with Nick and he did mention using someone yard to do this BBQ, personally I wouldn't mind but I also don't want to be a burden on anyone, but if we are allowed and majority of you guys would rather do that then that's fine with me, as long as its fine with my NJ guys. Ill try to get a hold of them tonight and run in by them to make sure and by tomorrow we can finally get this going.
The list has been made and it's gonna get posted ASAP!

Sounds ok.

Just curious say it's a nice day and tons of people go to the park that day and there are no BBQ spots left , then what? The second entrance sounds small unless we go under 24 cars. The first one sounds fine as long as its flat. If the gravel has any lip I'm screwed, I'm 4" off the ground .

Al offered to use his yard, just not sure how much farther of a drive it is for ny,nj guys

Thanks for looking

You know me. I'm down for anything. I saw the pictures of the back yard, and I think it's a great alternative spot. I to don't want to be a burden but with the list in the teens, I think we should go with the falls, and if more change their mind. We could go to the house. Either way. We will have a great time.

My only reservation about going to the park is that if we change venues, we can change times. Instead of getting to the park at 8:30 when they open up so we can secure our area, we can get to Fairnot's later...maybe 10ish? This means we don't have to get up and moving quite so early.

And, while I do like the idea of going to the falls first to see if there's room (even if we arrived at 10am), and if no, head over to Fairnot's, the only issue with that is how short notice there would be. As he stated (and I'm willing to help out), he'll need some set up assistance.

Just a few things to think about. But, and I have to be careful of this, don't over think it because then nothing will get done...

And yes, the sign-up list will be up...

FINALLY - ALL YOU MAYBES ON THE LIST NEED TO DECIDE IF YOU ARE COMING OR NOT SO WE CAN PURCHASE THE RIGHT AMOUNT OF FOOD.
