Man, you are lucky to be alive.
I had a friend lose an argument with a brick wall in his minivan. He fell asleep and crashed. Unfortunately, he never woke back up from his initial unconsciousness and died two days later from having the steering wheel crush his sternum and other injuries.
I've learned the hard way to not skimp on sleep and then drive. I've done many a duty day with lack of sleep in the military then expected to drive home the next day. I would get a quick nap to fix me up. All it takes is a few seconds.

Back in 2007 I sneezed so hard while exiting the highway, I blacked out and swiped the guardrail and came to a stop......I could feel it, but wasn't aware what was going on. My hands pulled the car into the rail and the car came to a stop. What a freaky feeling "coming back" and realizing you are parked against a guardrail, not moving.
been there done that

Wow! In the old days you may not have been around to talk about it after that kind of wreck. I am glad you are OK and hope you make a speedy recovery. As I can attest to, these cars are built right.

What sucks is the tree wasn't very big at all. I would've thought I would have done more than just chip off some bark, but the tree definitely won.

Hope you recover fully and get back on your feet. Did you have to take sick leave from your job? Or are you a student, home for the summer? This would be a rough thing to have to deal with, without worrying about paying your bills, etc. Speedy recovery to you, glad to see the person driving that car is still with us!

Luckily my job has good short term disability insurance, so I am fortunate to be getting paid through all of this.

Let me guess. It was an oak tree?

Yes we do build them strong in Oshawa but i don't think we can save those fenders ,doors or hood !! :( The most important thing here is your alive and able to talk about this . Having family around for support will make things a bit easier. On behalf of the Oshawa Build Team i wish you a speedy recovery. Best Regards

From the damage, you had to have been doing in excess of 60 mph and probably lost control. You stated your GF was following in your old blazer but didn't see the accident which also leads to the theory that you were speeding leaving her far enough behind not to see anything that happened. Now I'm no officer or an investigator and I wasn't on the scene to see for myself, but that is what I get from the post! Hope all works out for you in the long run!
I called her a few minutes before the wreck asking her where she was. She had to go back and shut the front storm door after it was blowing open. So that is why she wasn't right behind me.

WTF??

Yeah, as if I didn't suffer enough. Got a ticket given to me for improper lane usage while I was in the ER.

Id say that the fact that you are still alive after a wreck like that is a true testament to the folks at Oshawa, and the engineers at Team Camaro! That might be a good selling point to your girl, and her parents. You might not have survived the crash driving another type of vehicle.
Yep, I agree, and have already made this argument a couple times. If I was in my Trailblazer with no side air bags, who knows......

some cops can be assholes..BOO to that cop..you lost your car and your freedom for several months till that back heals..And now a shitty ticket..how would they expect a person to pay after they are incompacitated and have no ride..He should be bound, tied, and beaten. This coming from a person who has police officer friends..BOOOO.
