The one that I saw experienced misfiring across the driving envelope resulting in a rough idle and poor acceleration. The dealer first looked at the ignition system then the IM for valve problems. Once that was ruled out the timing chain was diagnosed.

Based on the high number of not failures in this thread, if you car is running normally, and has no codes, I'd say you are fine.

Doesn't appear to be as common as we had been led to believe.

Thanks but mine is not running normally, lil bit rough on startup and i am getting codes for TB..

dealer said TB seems to be a problem and probably needed to be be replaced.. the last week i noticed at 2krpm regardless of speed the car seems a bit jerky as would describe it.. feels like someone is tugging on the car while driving around 2k rpm so it jerks alot.. very light to feel someone else driving would prob not notice it.. I am unsure if this is just the TB or something else.

I get the stablitrak lights come on and reduced engine power, but i think thats cuz of tB problems.. feels like its not opening properly during iding, when i actively press the pedal/keep driving its fine but when i idle or maintain same speed when in traffic these lights come on again..

It will throw a CEL for the chains. I noticed down shifting with cruise on while going up steep hills on the Interstate, that it hadn't done before. I changed mine around 117,000 and currently have 174,000 miles. I used chains from rockauto.com and don't know who made them, or if they were made to the upgraded chain specifications.
