Read this whole thread, and still think srt4s aka neons are ugly. Fast. But ugly.

Your car traps 117, and while fast, an SRT4 with the factory upgrades and a tune can easily trap that. Those of us that "think" they are fast have just seen some fast ones in action, and by fast ones, I mean 120+mph traps.

The one reason I would not want a Neon.. crash test ratings.. IIHS test. The Camaro is a much safer car.

While I'll agree the Neon is a good platform to make a very quick car, I'm one of those who don't like the looks at all or the fact it's wrong wheel drive.

This may be true but nonetheless his ass was handed to him by a 2.4L neon
with all seriousness boost an do wonders for any car so its not surprising, i have done it to many cars myself.

I love anyone that is into their car enough put money into it and make it special. Whether it's handling, power or just appearance.

30 years ago your ride was far more important. Today our youth would rather put their money into their tech.

We here, I am afraid, are a dying breed.

Next time you see this Neon, ask the guy about it. Me I'm getting tired of this anti 4 cylinder crap in our own site. It's just a different way to enjoy driving and I think that's what it should be about.

Enjoy driving and enjoy your ride.

I actually had a similar revelation today. A FB friend is always posting about wines and how much he likes them and which one he likes and doesn't like. We chuckle because the pics he posts are all $15 or less bottles with most less than that.........cheap stuff. But I realized that's what he can afford and it's actually just cool that he is into at all regardless of the price point. He has an appreciation for his financial threshold. Similar situation.

Remember most people are buying transportation. That's why they are arguing over the Fusion, Camry, Accord being the number one seller.

Respect all that respect cars.

All the hp in the world wont matter if you can't get it to the wheels..

A couple of local guys have late 70 chargers and a lot of money into power (one guy claims over 600 although he has never dyno'd it). Problem for them is they still use the stock suspension, tires, etc. Car spins like crazy.

SRT-4s are cheap speed. Stock form they are already 13 sec cars. It takes a whopping $1000-1500 into it to bring it up to play with things like STIs, EVOs, Camaros, etc. They suck something terrible off the line stock, but they have cheap mods to remedy a lot of that. They break down like you wouldn't believe though. So given how old they are at this point - any of the ones you see still running around was likely built properly and driven by someone who knows how to keep it going. Don't dismiss this little FWD sleeper so quickly. Dodge even sells these guys a Stage II and III power upgrade package under warranty. I hated these damn cars back when they came out, but one can't help but respect a $19,000 car that runs 13s stock. I ran into one on the highway a few years ago in my EVO IX and once I heard it spool I knew I was screwed because it didn't sound stock at all. Sure enough he walked me like I was driving a prius.

It's sorta like muscle car owners with loud exhausts in my humble opinion. To each their own.

The reason you don't hear a lot of blow off out of modern turbo cars is because they use a "recirculation valve". It has to do with the position in the intake relative to the MAF sensor. Most of these cars are calibrated to account for that air recirculation and the recirc valve is before the MAF so that the sensor can read it out each shift. Those who go right on out and buy a "Blow off valve" are doing a disservice to their car because it momentarily causes the car to no longer be stoich and run too rich. They actually bog. You have to have the right build and tune to account for such a device and it serves a purpose in the right configuration, but most cars you hear them on are really not set up right. It sounds cool, and most might not even notice the degradation they're causing, but it's seriously not ideal on most of the cars running them these days. Honestly, if you have a modern turbo car, just get a high flow intake or a CAI and you'll hear it all just fine since you'll hear the recirculation valve inside the tube. At least the car will operate correctly.

BTW the "purpose" is to prevent turbo surge.
