Hi - NY does require vehicles to have DRLs. However, like many states it does require the driver to turn on their headlights during rain and snow. DRLs DO NOT qualify because in addition to your vehicle being seen in on coming traffic, it should be seen from behind and the side. Since DRLs do not turn on tail and side marker lights, they do not meet the letter of the law in inclement weather.)

so what happens in NY if your car does not have DRL. Not all new cars have them. I believe neither Ford nor Chrysler has jumped on the bandwagon yet. I am sorry but I feel they are totally stupid. First thing I do is trun mine off. But I do run my halos if it is even close to needing any kind of light and I plan in the near future to rewire and have the fogs (yea I know they aren't "technically" fogs) on with the halos.

Someone said they turn off their DRLs (Daytime running lights) during the day, and I just wanted to say that they really do make you more noticeable during the day. They've saved my butt on more than one occaison!

I always turn mine off during the day ...but... only because I drive with the halos on instead.
