Not true. As long as you have a valid package policy covering storage and the car is not moved etc, you can "take the plates off" for the season and still be covered. Your package policy covers it, since it's not being driven etc. I have done this with my Harley for years and years as well as the Solstice thats summer only.

I better ask some questions when I go for plates! I don't need any problems later on if some horrible accident happens and the quonset burns down!
I checked into it today, and thats correct a package policy will cover with no plates as long as it's in storage, they really emphized storage no movement what so ever, no restoration ect... there's to be no activity with the car what so ever..

Hey Xstunter, when you talk to that Ziebart please let me know how much they are charging, I am considering my front bumper and my rear fender flares. I think the entire car is a tad overkill and will cost probably 1500.00

Hey, so to take this thread in yet another direction haha

what's SGI's policy on CAT removal? I plan to put on long tubes, and that will remove the cats i believe. anyone run into trouble with this? some people tell me it's illegal... others say I'll be fine. We don't have emissions laws here as far as I know... whats the consensus?

I talked to Ziebart today and got a quote for the 3M clearshield install. has a 5yr warranty

It will end up being:

- front bumper kit (bumper and foglights area and sideview mirrors) - 400.00
- Hood (24" up) - 240.00
- "Hood balance" - which is the area between the hood and the bumper - where the mailslot is - 230.00
- Fender flares - ~50.00-100.00 per side

All in all should be about 1100.00 or so with taxes.

I am still considering having it done, 1100.00 seems to be a pretty reasonable in comparison with the prices quoted from other people in other threads.... and considering this is canada and everything is 10-30% more here, not too bad i think.

I am pretty sure you can straight pipe ur car if u wanted to here in Sask, I know a few people who have done it, you can however get a fine for decible level - if your car is too loud, they will ticket you... Just call SGI (or accredited SGI insurance place) and find out imo.

1100.00 aint bad. I personally don't think I would bother with my hood, than again there are new topics EVERY day almost about paint chips

I have never heard of Ziebart I don't live in Regina, are they a highly recognized body detailing shop? Or just one of the only shops in Regina that will do the clear bra? I never heard of the clear bra until I read this thread.

Ziebart is the only place I know of in regina that is any good. I heard that the Acura dealer in town does the clearbra too, so i think I am goin to phone them tomorrow and see how much they charge and if they will do a chevy, otherwise I am booked to get it done this friday.

I had never heard of the clearbra thing, nor was concerned about my paint until i read these forums and heard all the complaints about the paint being prone to chipping ....

I plan on keeping my car until I retire ....(unless something unforseen occurs) so I decided I might as well be safe than sorry and get the extra protection...

No worries from SGI...just look at the crap thats on the road here in Sask! Lot of it is barely hanging together!!! The only possible thing you could get nailed for would be exessive noise from the cops, but unless your stunting, doing a burnout or speeding, they wont hassle you!

I got my car 3m'd like crazy! Custom piece to do entire hood, and then pretty mush everything else. Was around 1300 I think. You will like it. Can't even tell its on there unless you get about a foot away, or if it gets a little dusty you can kind of see the seam lines.

As far as SGI goes, you are OK. Your dealer on the other hand, might give you some grief. Especially since messing with your cats is going to make a code pop up that you will have to either get tuned out or deal with your check engine light being on all the time.
