First dealer I went to basically said "no, we do not offer test drives." They had 1 SS and 1 LT. The guy basically said the cars will sell within the week and someone else will be taking them home soon so we want to preserve them for that buyer. He also said, people that want to buy this car don't care how it drives, they want it for what it is. I also told him I would order a 6 speed manual and the one I was looking at was auto and "it would be a different experience anyway."

Second dealer only had one in the showroom, said no and would not elaborate further.

Third dealer (who I will likely order from) did not have any to test.

Did you guys have problems getting a test drive? Or did you just order "sight-unseen?"

I had Ed Morse Sawgrass FL Pontiac give me an attitude when I wanted to drive a G8 about a year ago. I told them to shove their G8.

Look where Pontiac and the G8 are now...

The dealer I ordered from is about an hour from my house and the #1 reason that I ordered from them and not anyone else is that they kept a car on their lot, right out front under a tent that anyone could test drive. When I went to go see it the car never stayed under the tent for longer hen enough time for people to trade keys. Thats what sells cars, seat of the pants feel, not just a vison of it.

I've still not had a chance to test drive yet. The dealer I went to look at them, they were all ordered cars, so I couldn't test them. It's been 2 months since I was in there, so hopefully soon, there will be something to test.

Unfortunately for me, $35k is a lot of money and I want to know what my money is buying. The car looks great, it really does, but if it doesn't feel right, then it's not right. I have to live with the car, so I want to know which one is right for me.

My dealer let me test drive the car I ended up buying. It had 8 miles on it and I didn't even ask for the test drive, he offered. I was shocked to say the least. He did say they want to keep the miles down on it. They had the car in their possession less than 24 hrs when I drove it. By letting me drive it (and not being a dick) he had sealed the deal.

Good luck finding someone to let you drive one. They are out there.

Got an email a couple of days ago, seems like my dealership is finally going to sell their demo model, but it has over 2800 miles on it already and they're selling it at MSRP.
I test drove my brothers and dads but were bad comparisons because they weren't stock anymore, got to test drive both an 8 and 6 my bf has, I am going with an 8. Thought I'd get a 6 and build up, but imo would've been a waste of time and money. I went to connel here in so Cal, always amazingly friendly and no pressure either, I bought my ss Balt there too. They let me test drive one in a dark gray that some guy had on order but ended up not taking home. I like the autos great for traffic but ultimately am trying to clear my finances up quicker to get my camaro sooner then upcoming jan. I want it now lol. Anyone get ignored or laughed at? Tustin Chevy ignored me whenh I was looking at a used z06 and when asked if they had any camaro's the sales person laughed and remarked wouldn't I want something more for a girl? So I left :/ drove the extra quick distance to costa Mesa

We had the same experience of first not getting a chance to test drive. Finally a dealership came through and after a test drive of a SS stick, we put our order in. It took faith on the dealers part to take a chance on us. But I was always honest with the sales guy that we were serious buyers. Order placed Aug. 27th IOM SS/RS build week Oct. 19

never been able to drive one. either the ones there were already sold or they gave me the whole bit about someone will buy it & they don't want to put miles on it (as they proceeded to drive it to a car show 30min away)

I guess I've been fortunate. We ordered our 2lt without a test drive but our dealer said if they got one that did not get picked up we could take it out. Stopped by when I saw an auto ss on the lot and they let me take it for a ride. About a week later my dealer invites me to take a test drive an ss with a manual transmission since that's what we ordered. To top it all off, he said he would give me a call if they get an 2lt with the manual transmission so I could get a feel for it. The sales staff at Williams Chevrolet in Elkton, MD have been great.

Bill at NuCar offered a test drive of the 2SS on Friday. I was extremely pleased with the car and the service. I am planning on ordering soon!
