Save up and get a 01 - 02 4th gen V6? Nice looks, not too much to get in trouble with for a new driver. Or get a 1st gen that will cost you tons of $, never be finished, things will constantly break... etc.

I agree with everyone when they say, "get both!" However, you'll have to delay your gratification a bit on the 2010.

Buy a 1st gen now (I'm buying one tomorrow... 67 RS/SS Convertible) for $20k. In 3 years, buy a used 5th gen that still has a warranty and low mileage for $22k or so (I know that's a low guess). So you've spent a total of $42k and gotten both cars, rather than spending $33k and buying only the new car (plus tax, title, etc).

If you need a daily driver, the money you save by buying the classic car now, should allow you to pay cash for a beater as well. Overall insurance on a cheap beater + a classic 1st gen will probably be cheaper than on a new Camaro. The insurance on my 67 is only $236 a year.

I have owned (2) 69 Camaro's and loved them. However my favorite is the 2010 with all the bells and whistles on it. The 69 was awesome when I wanted to work on a car. Easier to do than these newer models but I really don't care to get my knuckles skinned up anymore.
