I have to say it was one of the best experiences I have ever had with children. I latched on to a child that had two broken legs from a car accident that killed most of his family! Very sad to say the least. He was the boy waiting for us to show up all day. Of course, it didnt hurt that his favorite was the VR that I had :>) I will be going back to visit him tomorrow and bring him more pics of the cars. It cant help but more you!

I wish we could make this a monthly ride. Perhaps with more planning and time, we can even get better bag stuffers!

DON, we (OK, I) give you a lot of crap but you really did a GREAT job putting this all together !!

If you or another group end up doing this again, shoot me a PM I would be happy to get a box of crayons or whatever prepped and mailed out to you all for the kids.

BIG props to all that participated. I've spent lots of time in hospitals (my son has epilepsy)...simple things like this go a LONG way in making these kids (and parents) happy. If you can take their minds off of what's going on for just an hour, it's a great deed.

Most of our club activities revolve around racing and rally driving and When MTCowboy suggested this event I was very excited to participate. We all worked hard and pulled together the gift bags by using our contacts from Auto stores, Racing Parts suppliers, Race tracks, Suppliers, and friends. And of course called in a huge favor from GM that really made a huge difference by getting the hats. The Denver Police Department also sent the Drag team and their Corvette to lead us across town. The folks at the Hospital were great and broke us into three groups and toured us thru the different floors where we had a chance to visit with parents and kids. Some kids were in isolation so we left bags for when they get better. Funny story about one little boy. He was up on the parking deck waiting for us when we arrived. We was told that he had been pestering the nurses all morning asking if we were there yet. Finally the nurse could not take it any longer and took him up to wait for us. He spent the entire day with us.. Great kid and a future Camaro Owner no doubt. There will never be another day that will duplicate the efforts of this day for us that were in attendance. For the clubs that wish to do this in the future....It can be very simple. The kids love coloring and you can get online coloring books and have a few pages copied at Kinkos. Ask for a discount because of the event and you will probably get one. Crayons were ordered right from Crayola in the 4 packs like at resteraunts. 360 packs for something like 90 bucks. Stickers can be from many different sources. Police Depts, Fire Depts, auto parts and racing shops. But what the kids really enjoyed was a visit and a smiling face. Fact is that parents get worn down with the stress of having thier child sick and a new smiling face made all of them forget their problems for a few hours. Then the cars. It gave everyone from staff to patients something to do for a few hours. I have a few pics on my phone I will download and post as well.
Kudos to Don for spearheading this whole event. Larry
Larry,
You and your crew did an awesome job. Hopefully alot more people will get together and do this, if I am correct pretty much every state has a children's hospital. Thanks to all the sponsors your returns will be many and worth every penny you spent. John

Then the hospital told us if we had stuff for the kids, we would need at least enough for 200 kids. I thought that would be impossible to get. Then John Fitzpatrick, Camaro Marketing Mgr, came through with 200 Camaro hats and Summit Racing with 200 bags and stickers, then the rest just fell into place. There are alot of very generous people all around you, you just have to look a little closer. May God bless them all.
BRAVO!!!

All you guys are awesome!!!

I've got tears in my eyes right now because there's so many kids out there going through life dealing with issues that just may kill them. ...and make them sick as heck in the process. My classmates daughter died at the age of 5 due to brain cancer....incredibly sad. NO child should have to go through ANYTHING like this.

Anything to put a smile on the kiddos faces. ANYTHING.

You guys who do this type of stuff truly are HEROS. And I thank you all

FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY HEART.

You should be PROUD!

Okay yall be honest now. Who benefited the most from this? Charity has a way of touching those that give. It is indeed a powerful moment to give such small simple gestures and to be blown away by the thankfulness and overwhelming appreciation from these kids. If every human on this planet could just do such an action once in their life, the world would be so much better!

I feel terrible for missing this! :(

I'm kind of new to the Forums and didn't find out until it was too late.
My Daughter has been in and out of the Childrens Hospital for the last year, here in Colorado Springs. We have been big supporters and would have loved to attend. (Although my Camaro won't arrive till mid'ish Oct...that wouldn't have stopped us from coming)

Sorry I missed the event...but I'm really REALLY happy you guys did this!

Most Awesome!

Dave

You guys ROCK!

What a gracious thing to do! You are correct when you say it's the kids that really make owning one of these cars extra fun! The smiles on the kids you spent the day with, says it all! PRICELESS!!

Just an affirmation of what I've always said about the Camaro heads I've met here on Camaro5....The best peeps I've ever had the opportunity to get to know!
