Looks like tire rack on offers the RE11 and not the RE11A. Looking through the pictures/description it doesn't look like the A is stamped anywhere on the sidewall.
Was the RE11A discontinued already? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

There was a Bridgestone engineer posted on the forum last year, who said A designation was used for tire sizes with both old and new formulation available, and that new sizes that were released after reformulation did not come with A letter. Both 305 and 325 sizes are new. Here's hoping he's correct : )

Thinking of Pilot Sport Cup 2s. 315 front, 325 rear as replacement for Trofeos when they wear out. Anybody tried this combo? Either that or Re-11s in 325 on all four corners.

I've only tried them in 305 size, but Cup 2 tires were not good in my experience. They have very low traction in first lap or two, and then they perform well for 3-4 laps, and they overheat afterwards, with traction dropping gradually. In contrast, Trofeo Rs could consistently provide high traction throughout the whole session, once warm enough.

In conversation, my speed shop I used for my fluid change recommended Toyo R888's
I haven't had the opportunity to really get on my Trofeos, but I only have warm weather here in S Florida, so I think they will be just fine. |

They are newer than the RE11s and have definitely not been discontinued. However, I don't believe the RE11As are available w/ 305 width.

Got it. Whoever ends up trying out 325's all around RE11 let us know how they are! Assuming my CPO w/ 2,700 has about 50% tread life left once it arrives, I will be needing a set rather quickly. |

RE11As are done, and will be a difficult get. The RE71R's are with RE11s in the category and are doing all of what an RE11s(As also) could do plus more, being a better dry weather performer.
The R888 has the TrofeoR issues... issues being a needed warm up and some heat. No reason to switch from Trofeos to R888 at all. Depends on what the driver wants and how many sets they want to have. RS3s could be fun choice at a nice price. |

How is calling a 35 lbs tire a silly statement. Yes some use heavy tires like say the rear tire on the Porsche 918 spyder but still. It is well known that the gen 5 Camaro performance capability is killed in corners with tires in that weight range. Keeping the total wheel package close to 50 lbs is the way to go. Z28 rim 26+ lbs, tire 28 lbs. GO figure. Ans how is a tire that weight placed on an already heavy car going to be good for performance driving, ever tried jogging in snow boots vs sneakers?

Its silly because you said its "too heavy". Which it is not. Youre being a bit erratic and bringing up issues and debating things Im not speaking about. A lot of it is not the topic here.
Its about tire options for these cars. I understand everything youre saying but the tire and physics debate does not happen in here, on the internet for me. We will post endlessly. I say RS3 and you challenge it. No need debating your opinion or even objective consensus over which tire is better. Someone may really like the flames on the RS3 and their price and may never drive in the rain. Z28 with RS3s. Cool. Id understand the choice. Exactly the point here. Someone will want what someone doesnt. Someone will drive better where weight, width, and psi become an issue. RE11 pros have outweighed cons and its exactly why the RE11a developed. Why they remain used despite weight. Most want to enjoy the car on the street and not have 3 sets of tires to rotate between because not everyone is trying for tenths. I enjoy seeing what the choices are while giving and getting insight. |
