BUT! I miss the torque of a V8. The V6 just doesn't plant you in your seat the way a V8 does. It isn't violent acceleration. It's a more linear power application.

I have a supercharged big block Camaro with 18.5 wide Thompsons and I can't get traction on the street. The new ZL1 will probably run rings around it. But to your point my '69 has a violent aspect to it that smaller engines do not. That's the reason why I personally would choose the V8. The flip side to that is my twin turbo BMW. It's a different kind of fun. That car on the highway gets up like nobody's business.

My advice remains the same. If you liked the car when you ordered it and you don't now, you may be listening to voices in your head other than your own.

I always listen to the voices in my head but they keep telling me never to tell where I hid the bodies and so far that has worked. But that's another story.

Eh I'm waiting on the V6 1LE model. I use zero of my V8 power during my daily drive.... Plus I am more about handling and seems to me the V6 1LE will do exactly what I want plus get way better gas mileage than my 5gen V8.

How bad is the gas mileage in your V8?

I get nearly the same as in my 2014 v6.
I usually average high teens around town and high 20s on the freeway. My best run on my 120 mile commute was 31.6, best in my 6 was 32-33.
I've driven my car around 6k miles and have averaged about 22 total. Pretty amazing for a v8 making this much power!
M6 btw

Not bad at all. I'm averaging 24 mpg in my V6.

For me the mpg and insurance were the "straws that broke the camel's back".
I don't pay more for gas and insurance is cheaper. So the only added expense is the car payment.
I don't drive a camaro for good gas milage and low insurance but those are costs and them being low makes it so I can afford more car.

I've heard of people, especially with an automatic, getting much worse gas mileage. So depending on how you drive you might not get that mpg, but I have proof of the 31.6 and can take a pic of the overall if requested

Good thread. As an SS owner I can agree that the power is overkill for the most part. 70-100 happens real quick, but that is also quite illegal on public roads. Going 0-60 at WOT is a rare occurrence. A part of me DOES want a new ZL1 or even a Z06 but I would use the extra power and handling so infrequently that I'm not sure it would be worth it. Since I had an LS1 f-body and a 2010 Camaro SS, I did seek a little power bump this time around. But I do have thoughts that maybe I don't even need this type of car. Maybe a Terrain Denali would have been a better suited car. So it does go both ways.

I'll say this much, this is my first black car and will probably be my last. Even when I'm not daily driving it, it's a PITA to take care of. I thought I was capable of keeping it immaculate but even I'm putting swirls and light scratches on it just from washing (with a new quality microfiber pad each wash!).

My last car was the new redesigned 2014 impala, just the LS model, 2.4 liter, 196 h.p. engine. But, I got BLACK!!!!!!! Never again with that color choice. You said it, a real PITA to keep clean........

Depends on how I drive really. If I want decent gas mileage I have to baby it which gets annoying. If I drive how I want say bye bye to gas and with my new job being 60 miles one way I try to baby it....

I can definitely can understand black! All I use to own and got so wore out keeping up with the color. After three black vehicles I decided silver will be what I will own haha. Silver is so easy to keep clean! I also understand the thoughts of I do not need this power for my daily use and since I am a newly dad I always have the thought in my mind of going to a G8 four door as a family car and it has plenty of power for my needs.

I went from a 2010 2LT/RS to a 2013 2SS/RS. I loved the extra torque and 400 hp, but I don't race, and I have no real need for 455 hp for a daily driver where anything over 80 mph around here can get you in deep shit.
I'm probably going back to the V6. Plenty of hp for my needs as my DD, save money on gas, tires (switching out the summer only tires). I'm planning on getting a fairly loaded 2LT convertible, so the only thing I'll miss is the MRC.
