Yes, the name used to be Panther. That is why we are trying to incorporate it into a mascot. The Cougar was a Mercury version of the Mustang.

The Ford Pantera, a rear/mid engine car, Elvis is famous for shoting his when it wouldn't start. They were made up into the early 90s still but not imported anymore.

The roof line is sort of right, but the rear end is messed up the way the deck lid sits below the fender tops and that front end screams Nova II / Olds Omega.
