Hey just curious if anyone has run into this problem....

I had my V1 wired up for a while, but recently I installed Ofers backup camera. I had to remove the V1 because I'm unsure of which two wires to tap into for power?

I used the cord that everyone bought from eBay, with the black and red wires that you just plug into the stock mirror harness.

Having trouble identifying the correct wires.
Among all the wires attached to the mirror, the plug has a black wire, one red wire, and two pink wires. I plugged in the black wire and also tried to use the red wire. The Valentine worked fine, but it would not shut off when the ignition was shut off.
It does not appear that the red wire is switched. Are there any other wires that will give me switched power?
Thanks.

I had to refer back to my original notes. The proper red wire to tap into is the one next to the green wire on the end. It's the first picture.

The micro version of the Invisicord will work with the Camaro with no filing. Either the regular micro or fused micro version will work. The standard version is indeed a bit too wide.

Just ordered the Micro Invisicord.
The plug in my mirror is different from the original DIY writeup.
With the smaller prongs on the Micro, I may be able to fish around and find the switched wire.
Thanks for your help.

i have two questions:

1. has anyone done this on the 2012 2SS/2LT yet? it has a rear view camera and i'm wondering if the wiring would be the same as previous years.

2. is the blendmount removable easy? i would want to take the entire apparatus off of my rear view mirror when i park the car, not just the radar detector itself. the reason being that thieves around here are smart and if they saw the blendmount, they would deduce the radar detector was sitting in the glove box. something very similar has happened to me before, so therefore i would want the blendmount to easy snap on and off of the mirror if possible. then i could just wrap the invisicord over the mirror slightly out of sight.

thanks for any help.

I am not sure about the Blendmount, but I have a tip for you on the Invisicord, especially if you will be plugging/unplugging the power. I suggest it on my website, but will reiterate it here.

Get a small black cable tie and zip-tie the Invisicord to the factory wiring harness so that it is quite snug. This helps keep the connection to the mirror and you should be able to plug/unplug the Invisicord from the detector very easily without worry.

Thank you for the order NCBob, I forgot to post back in here!

val 1 is great! will save your butt! just be careful about "instant on!
no detector can adequately defend against that! all you will get is a 'weak" beep or two "ahead" of you on the highway, you "disregard" this warning at your own peril!

have you or anyone done it on the 2012? i can confirm the wires are NOT the same on the 2012 version, so i have no idea which to plug into.

I haven't, and haven't yet heard back from customers for the 2012. If I hear something I will post it here.

I hope one of our members steps up. Cannot find a switched mirror wire on the 2012 2SS model convert. There is a green light on the mirror that appears to be switched. Light goes off when ignition is turned off. Cannot find which wire is associated with the light, though. I really do not feel like running lengths of wire to the fuse panel.

If you get a volt meter you can check which wire it is.

If the Blendmount doesnt work out to well I may have to go that route of the visor mount. Where did you get the visor mount? Found one here http://www.southerncarparts.com/cama...nt-p-2653.html
Yes, that's the exact visor mount I got.

The Stealth Mirror Cord I got is the following:

It provides the exact same functionality as the Micro Version Fused Invisicord, but for half the price.
