If nobody has mentioned it. Remove the center dash speaker. It sounds better.

I've been told and believe that stock head units are the weakest link in a factory system. They automatically lower the base as the volume is adjusted upward. They sell sound-processors that restore what factory head units take out and allow you to keep the factory head unit and speakers in place. The BA system isn't not bad but will never match a high-end replacement. I kept mine all original because my prior 52 years of upgrading has left my ears pretty damaged.

I've seen many post about unplugging that center speaker. To be honest though, after a year and a half of listening to this system the way it was to what it sounds like now, I'm good for now. I actually had a hard time falling asleep last night thinking about how much this system changed for the better. I'm sure someone that's in the know will see this and possibly explain just how negative those adapters affect the stock system...
Absolutely unbelievable! |

from the center speaker. That's what it's actually for. In any home theater system, that is what the center speaker is for. With the vocals mixed to come out of both the left and right channels, a "sweet spot" is created that is equidistant between the left and right channel speakers. This gives the listener the illusion that the vocals are coming from a phantom center spot between left and right channel speakers. |

But isnt the home theater system designed to give the center channel? The head unit in the car only puts out stereo and that is why it sounds like crap.

going to it, and be mid to high pass filtered at the amplifier. If not, that's why you add a capacitor to filter out what you don't want at that speaker. You would need at least a 450uF cap to cut off the low frequencies. That also caries on the speaker ohms, assuming 4-ohm. You can get it to sound the way you want with the proper capacitor on the positive lead. |

Too bad someone hasnt already created a plug and play module for that like that have for connecting the sub and/or aftermarket amp.

All you really need is a capacitor for your desired frequency cut-off. Center
speakers are full range by design, but you don't want 80Hz and below going to them. A 250uF cap will work good, keep bass out, while low to high voice attenuation remains. |

Or you can just disconnect the center speaker and be done with it. The BA system is by far one of the most terrible factory “systems” I have heard.

Mine was disconnected a week after I purchased the car. I agree it sounds better that way. I also added a 600W Kicker amp and 2 10" Kicker subs. So the system sounds much better now.

I’ve spent a long time on just trying to decide on a replacement for the front speakers, including the tweeters. The current system sounds ok to me but I want to see if it can get the sound a bit better with the stock BA amp and my aftermarket HU. The same HU in my other vehicle sounds a lot better than my SS.

The BA sound in my 2010 2SS is inferior to the Bose in my 2015 Trax LSX. While one difference is that the Bose has a subwoofer, that's not the only difference.
The BA is inferior over the whole range of frequencies. Additionally, the Sirius receiver in the Camaro is crap. I thought this was due to Sirius low bandwidth until I got the Trax. |
