I voted yes only because I don't see why not. What reason would there be to not allow them?

To simplify this response: I would MUCH rather see them in the hands of the police than in the hands of Avis, Hertz, Alamo, National, or Budget!!! Please GM, NEVER SELL THEM TO THE RENTAL FLEETS!
What is wrong with rental fleets? I think that GM should sell them to who ever wants them... that way our camaro will stick around for a long ass time...

I dunno'

Dallas Police's most celebrated and successful showcar is a semi-retired Caprice cruiser with Daytons and Hydraulics.

Ft Worth's Department uses a different kind of horsepower. The 1 horsepower 4-legged variety. The highly trained police horses can be pet by hundreds of small children and still work crowd control and all the big festivals.
They are a bigger draw than any hemi-Charger has been.

The BMW R1100 probably accelerates at least as good as the Camaro. And lot's of cops would like to be motor-jocks.

As far as pursuits? A 320 hp 5500lb Tahoe isn't going to be as speedy as a Camaro, but it's mass will pretty much guarantee a successful PIT manuever on anything less than a City bus.

I think a G8 GXP would be more practical for law enforcement. I saw a cop in a Charger the other day. You wouldn't want to take someone into custody and have them in the passenger seat while you're trying to drive, or try to get someone into the back seat of a two door car. Getting them out would be fun too.

I think that the highway patrol would buy a few Camaro's and use them for interceptor service on the highways- not as cruisers. But the G8 is a good choice for cruisers, just too expensive.

yes. police need to have access to anything that may help catch the bad guy.
no. police sometimes abuse the power they are given.

At first I said no then I said yes and this is why. I was returning from Niagra Falls and got into Ohio at around 1:00a.m. I was with my brother in my F430 and we doing about 85mph on I90. Out of nowhere a black Z06 pulled up next to me and then dove behind me. I was nervous at first but he flashed the red n blues at me. Crap not again I thought as I pulled over. The Ohio Highway Patrol got me! He came up to my window and asked me why I going so fast. I told him I didn't relize I was going that fast. After a couple of minutes two more showed up. I'm going to jail, I thought. The cop came up to me and said "how fast does this really go?". The speedo says 220mph I told him. "Think you can take my Vette?" I didn't even think ,"Yeah" I said."Well if you do no ticket". OK. The two cops that showed up took off. I pulled back on the road and the Vette was next to me. 40mph and off we went. He kept up with me until 145 then I was gone. I let off at 170mph with plenty of power left. I pulled back over and Officer Hall came up to me and smiled and told me go home and drive safe. Officer Hall for being so cool and a true car nut yourself you deserve to ride around in a Camaro and I hope to see you soom. Stay safe.

Heck yeah, they should have them. Might as well have a chase car that can actually move!
