what the difference between having a wet filter or a dry one and how does it stay wet...sorry for the stupid questions but I wanted to get one...I have a v6...and was wondering does the system look the same as it does for the v8?

A wet filter is a cotton fiber or sponge type filter that has a light coating of oil. A dry filter can be made of any number of materials but is "dry" meaning no oil.

Wet filters traditionally allowed better air flow than dry filters while being able to filter out micro particles as well as dry filters. Today though there are dry filters that seem to be made of materials that allow them to filter as well while allowing as good of air flow as wet but, no possibility of over oiling the filter and making a mess of the MAF sensor.

You can clean and re oil the filter. Depending on how dusty the conditions are in your area, this should be done every 10 To 50 thousand miles. Sooner if you're in the desert or similar local with extreme dusty conditions

how often should the filter itself be replaced, and what type of Oil do you use for this filter.
