yeah, it is funny... I actually raced a mustang gt years ago from a light, and never noticed the officer behind me. I passed the mustang sideways facing him at 72 in a 30 and accelerating, as soon as I touched off 3rd gear and my car settled down and was pulling, he hit his lights. He called backup, and I had 3 there all said and done. After they tore me apart with no front plate, bald rear tires (bald drag radials), blah blah, and saw my race card attatched to my windshield with my helmet in the back seat, he read me the riot act and let me off with 1 out of 19 tickets he could have written!

Seems to me, your in a similar case. In my honest opinion, your going to lose. This officer gave you a break, you may not think so, but she did. Man up, take your lumps, and learn from it. I've gotten ALOT of tickets in my life, some for crazy speeds, some I didn't deserve, and some I earned.

I'm not sure about your state, but NY offers defensive driving courses, which reduces your insurance by 10%, and removes 3 points from your license. I'd look into that too once it goes through court. Good luck in whatever you decide to do.

Haha that's a story that you can tell your kids. Going the middle road and plead no contest/guilty and take driving course later on.

The sign she wrote you for was the speed limit sign. It is a valid ticket.

Sorry if that was already answered just saw the thread and wanted to give you a quick answer before I log off.

Lucky for me, the cop was behind me since the red light . She pulled me over, telling me she had to accelerated to 60 to catch me. Pretty sure that's because I gunned way before she did. So instead of speeding, she wrote me a "failure to obey signs" to give me a break. Even tho I didn't disobey and signs. Which is still $100 and 3 points.

I planned to go to court, but should I plead not guilty and just explain the whole story and tune down the speed I was going?

Because she wrote me a ticket that I didn't do, would that give me a better chance to get out of it? I hope so.... :(

Totally agree with your comment. Look we all have broken the law and I bet some of us broke the law today. If you speed and don't get caught, you still broke the law. If you do a burn out on a local street and don't get caught, you still broke the law. Just because you don't get caught does make it right. Just think of all the time you have driven over the speed limit or tired to catch a yellow light and did not get a ticket, it could be a lot worst. Do cops, police, troopers make mistakes? Yes, we all do, it's part life. It is how you handle that mistake that definds that person (both parties involved). Should you fight a ticket in court? Why, not! You don't have to lie either. I sure don't want my car incurance to go up. I know we all can agree on this, getting a ticket sucks period.

With and attitude such as yours, I can see why you wouldn't get a break.

I spent 20 years in law enforcement (retired) and I don't expect any favors and yes I like to "play" with my SS now and then BUT if I get nailed, I have no one to blame but myself. Actually, I just got through paying a ticket for 81 in a 50. The sad part, it wasn't even in my SS, it was my wife's truck! I completed the online defensive driving so it didn't go on my record and I now have an insurance discount for the DD.

We all break the law.. we just all don't get caught.

I got a ticket 3 weeks ago bringing my 72 year old mother home from the hospital. 80 in a 65. I was not paying attention to my speed and I was in my truck, not the SS. I went down yesterday, paid the $160 and asked for it to be ajudicated. As long as I do not get another ticket for 90 days in Harris county, the ticket will not go on my record. I will watch my speed for 90 dayss. LOL. From my experience with the police, attitude is everything. I have gotten more warnings in my life than tickets. Good luck.

I love it. I spent 21 years as a state trooper in AZ. You're a dick when you write tickets for speeding, red lights, unsafe lane usage, etc., etc. We're also dicks when that guy doesn't get caught before his/her dangerous behavior just wiped out your family because we weren't working hard enough (too much time in the donut shop). We're dicks because we didn't get to your minor $50 scratch on your car fast enough that you originally claimed was a major accident and we're dicks because we were speeding to your accident where you said someone was seriously injured when in fact you got a little ouwy on your knee. It's either "what took you so long?" or "why are you picking on me?"

The thing that kept me going was catching that escaped murderer, or the guy smuggling 1000 lbs of cocaine or the occasional opportunity of actually saving someone's life. No point in mentioning the missed birthdays, holidays or other special occasions others take for granted. Not much point in mentioning much else about any of this because certain jackasses on this thread will never get it.

Do the crime...

....pay the fine. Stop trying to figure out a way to lie your way out of something and be glad it didn't turn out worse. See AZ MSCL's examples as how.

If you are worried about points trying to work out a deal makes sense but you have to expect a ticket for 50 in a 40, suck it up and pay the price.

When I discovered the internet I realized it was a place to bash cops and get away with it.

It was fun for a minute, but one must remember that the guys on this forum arent the ones that wrote you the ticket, or took the stand and lied about your offense.

So,... I went and looked up the word "ajudicated" and this is what I found:
http://answers.yahoo.com/question/in...0134208AAliaVm
http://wiki.answers.com/Q/What_does_...ed_guilty_mean

Basicly is says that the person was Judged and found Guilty.
How does this allow it to not go on your Record if you dont get another Ticket in 90 Days?

The thing is,... I can see if he speeds off of the Light in a 40 or 45 MPH Zone and Kept going up to 80 or 100 Weaving in and out of Traffic or to see how Fast their car can go in the 1/4 mile. Damn Straight,... A cop should pull them over.

Goldman's the first one at the Traffic light he speeds up to 10 miles over the speed limit but I doubt it very much that he did it at Drag Racing Speeds where he Smoked or even Barked his Tires at all, No one is in front of him to endanger so it's a Victimless Crime so far and as far as the Cop knows he could have been doing it for any known reason so far. so was the Cop being a Dick about it?

Woohoo, Big Fricken Deal Really,... Personally from all of the Reality Cop Shows that are on TV these days it just seems like, BAMM!!! Thats something Illegal they're doing, Let's pull `em over and see how they're acting and see what else they might have on `em, maybe I can get an Atta Boy/Girl from the Capt tonight.

And most of the time when cops get those Bad Guys that are Smuggling 1000lbs of Cocaine, The Escaped Murderer, Drug Dealers, etc, etc, etc,... is because of the above example, It would be because of us doing stupid stuff with our vehicle when Cops were around they would have no reasons to pull us over for.

I'm a Stickler for using a Turning Signal, I mean I make it a Freaking Point to make sure that I use it when ever I'm making a turn so now I've got my wife and my mother doing it also so now were all using our Signals Everytime were turning no matter how quick of a turn it is and man It Bugs The Living HELL Out Of Me When I Dont See A Cop Using Their Signals and I See It All The Time. So Please,... If Your a Police Officer Reading This Post That Drives a Patrol Car, Please Start Making It a Point To Start Using Your Turning Signal For Every Turn You Make No Matter How Quick The Turn Is Please.

Listen,...
I have Cops in my Family and as my friends for the last 22-24 Years and the Best thing I ever did was,... Cut my ties with Every Single One of them about 6 Years ago, They may act friendly and nice towards you but they will always be a cop.

Kind of like the Snake and the Little Boy, I forget how it goes a little bit but the boy asks the snake if he can pick him up without him getting bit? the snake said of course, The boy picks up the snake and the snake bites the little boy, The boy asks the snake, Snake why did you bite me when you said you wouldnt? The snake said, I'm a Snake!

There are Good Cops There are Bad Cops and Karma is a Bitch.

I couldn't have said it better myself.

It's disappointing to see what some people say/feel about us. But when something goes wrong who gets the call... we do.

If you think I'm a dick for enforcing traffic laws, so be it. But remember who's out there at night, while you are in bed, willing to put his/her life on the line to protect you and yours.

Bottom line... we just have to ignore it. Obviously there are cops out there who do use their position to get ahead. But trust me, many cops are not like that. There are bad apples in every profession.

By the way, this reply is not directed toward anyone... It's just my rant on the subject and about the negative perception people have about my profession.

So the cop had to go faster to catch you?!?!? Whoa, rocket science there.

Ive had a cop say that to me before when I was pulled over.

LEO: You know I had to do 95 to catch you?
ME: Ok, why?
LEO: Because you were going so fast.
ME: Not really, I bet you clocked me going 74 right?
LEO: Actually, 75 but close.
ME: Ok, so if you had gone 85 you would of caught me just the same only farther down the road, right?
LEO:......
