Pro Drivers do not have day jobs as engineers

Mero is a great driver too but he is not a pro.

Lots of great European GT drivers with plenty of Ring time as they run the 24 hour race there.

Ok, maybe professional was a bit much, but I am not sure a pro would do much, if any better. These guys know the car and the track.

Link (800 laps), Wallace (425 laps) and Cattell (600 laps) have extensive experience behind the wheel on the Nürburgring Nordschleife, and have gone to the Nürburgring a combined 31 times to develop and test GM vehicles. The track offers unique road dynamics that challenge both the drivers and vehicles, and it is an important part of tuning Corvettes to deliver the on-track performance our customers expect.

Link, Wallace and Cattell are among the most seasoned Nürburgring-certified drivers at GM – with a combined 36 years of experience working on Performance Cars. Wallace also leads GM’s high performance driver training program.

Apparently a Pro Driver disagrees

Missed Apexes and Conservative Driving

According to Charoudin, the ZR1’s official lap left 8 to 10 seconds on the table. He notes early braking zones, minimal use of curbing, conservative entry angles, and missed corner exits throughout the run. The lap was clean and composed, but lacked the surgical aggression you’d expect from a pro racer going for an all-out lap.

Pretty cool. It'd be MUCH more impressive if he was shifting gears!

But they were shifting gears...with the paddles

They made a decision and I bet it wasn't too easy.

The tunnel is the structural back bone so they don't want holes not to mention the shift linkage.

Plus the people that buy Vettes have gotten older...older means bad knees in a lot of cases.

Buy a C7 if you want to row your own it may be fun but it is also slower than the auto's.

Look what C&D said about the 10 speed ZL1 after lapping VIR faster than the stick version

2019 was the A10

2018 was the M6
