It cost me less than 200 for everything in my GTP. You couldn't tell it wasn't stock. Normally the parts required are the HUD itself, the trim piece (makes the hole in the dash look nice), and the control switch. I'll dig around tonight but I am not sure I have pictures. I bought all my parts from a wreck though. The worst part is cutting the dash. It's terrifing cutting on a car like that! But a few minutes with a dremel and it was all over.

i thought it meant Highly Unethical Dealer
![]() From all the pictures I have seen of the instrument panel the HUD would seem like just an expensive toy.. something to make the kiddies go ooooh ahhhh... But that is just my opinion, I am sure you have your reasons for wanting one..

Honestly, the HUD is not all that great.
Mine stopped working in my 2000 Grand Prix GTP 2 months after my warranty expired. I never got it fixed because it wasn't all that valuable or worth the money. Nice to have? Yes. Worth waiting to have? No way in god's creation. |

There was a bad cold solder connection on the 97-03 GP's you could fix it for 5 bucks and thirty minutes. The problem is that GM listed the HUD as a non-servicable part so they just throw them away and replace them.

I just checked out the demo on the Lexus website and have to say they did a very nice job with the HUD. I like the turn by turn directions that are displayed and prefer it to a traditional nav screen. Hopefully when GM does offer HUD for the Camaro, it will have a similar feature. Since I'm holding out for a 2011, I hope it makes it to production by then.

HUD spelled backwards is DUH...You already have guages that are easy to read.. besides anyone that can dial a cellphone while driving can surely glance down at the speedometer every once in a while...

As an owner of a 2008 corvette with HUD, it's really just a toy, those of you who are lamenting its absence on the camaro are overestimating its value. Mine was part of a package that included other things I wanted (memory seats, bose stereo). Yes it displays several different things, but I just set it to speedometer and even then I hardly ever look at it. It's not any safer or better or handier than simply glancing six inches lower to the real gauges. I suppose if you were on a racetrack it would be invaluable, but I have a hunch that not many people will be racing their camaros.

They must have been on my old computer I cannot find them! But here is a link to the same proceedure done on an older body GP. The 04+'s were actually easier because they were digital. They only tap into the data stream on the car's bus. I suspect the Camaro will be like this as well. The old one had an idividual wire for everything on the display. This has been done literally a hundred plus times.
