To those saying this is a "waste of money". There's a couple of things you have to remember.

1) The price the government pays is not what you pay. They get a discounted rate due to volume sales (Most states do a "state bid" where all vehicle purchases, from any company, are done as one large order)

2) Regular Impalas/Chargers/Crown Vics are not as cheap as people think they are. I've seen the window sticker for our departments Impalas, and even with the discounts they're in the mid 20's range.

Now, for those saying they wouldn't pull over, some advice. Driving to a police station is probably not your best bet. Your best option is to drive to the FIRST well lit public area (Parking lot of a business that's open) and then stop. Roll down your window enough to speak with the officer and the you can verify via badge and ID that the person is an officer.

We've had 3 people in the last year try to pass their non-marked cars off as police officers, they've all been caught in the first day they've done it. You're certainly welcome to verify via ID or calling dispatch, however I wouldn't drive long distances to a police station to pull over.

Oh, one last thing...the person wondering about a back seat. This car will, in my estimation, be used for traffic enforcement. Much like an officer on the motor squad who does traffic from his motorcycle. In the rare case they have someone who needs to go to jail, a patrol unit is called to do the transport for them.

Just saying.

If you think that the person behind you isn't a real cop, then pull to the next populated area. Like a gas station, Wal-mart restaurant, etc.
Cell phone. You can call the police and report that there's someone behind you who has flashing lights, but you have a doubt about it being a real police officer. If it's legit, the officer will get that from dispatch, and has no reason to stop you. Also, someone mentioned the Onstar option. You can press Onstar and tell the advisor. I'm sure they can put you through to the right people.

Always w/in reason, you are w/in your legal rights to do that. Obviously, if you're getting pulled over by a clearly marked patrol car you pull over. If someone behind the wheel of a Viper, or a Vette wants to pull me over, my answer would be no.

If I'm observing traffic laws, and not endangering the public there should be no real reason to deploy stop sticks, or "extract" me from my car. Doing that will make a peaceful man an angry one. Plus yaknow, I'd win in court.

That's also an excellent point about Onstar....

So did you not pull over for the Mustang's and IROC's we used 20 years ago? Just curious....we had a ton of those with Highway Patrol in Utah.

This car is obviously a police car, there's no reason not to yield to a marked vehicle such as this. If it had visor lights, or the Starsky and Hutch light, I could understand the hesitation, but a full on light bar with markings?

Camaro Police

All I can say is I hope they go a little further and produce an actual 9C1 package car. I would love to see one at the Michigan State police tryouts...Grattan Raceway...here I come.
Its GOT to be cramped in there with all the equipment, some of the new VOIP (Voice Over IP), command consoles would be sweet.
Old school NYSP Monaco (The SUNOCO Specials).
AAAAAnd New school Camaros.

LOL. No, there are no mustangs or z28's police vehicles in the dc suburbs. Light bar? You can buy those online....

Bah, we're completely off the rails here people. Let's get back on topic.
