I guess it's time for me to follow this DIY and mount my front plate. I got pulled over this morning and was told I have until Monday next week to get the plate mounted. I didn't receive a ticket, just a verbal warning. The officer also said that its to my advantage to get the plate mounted because if I'm ever out having a few beers some night and I get pulled over for the missing plate, I could end up in more trouble than just the missing plate. Words of wisdom from a pretty cool officer. He also mentioned multiple times what a nice car I drive and that he'd been watching me drive through town on a daily basis and was waiting to see the plate get mounted. I was hoping that the hot looking car would make the police miss the fact that I was missing a front plate. It worked for 8 months but my time is up!

Not trying to rain on anyone's parade, but every time I see a license plate in a car windshield (Camaro or otherwise), two thoughts instantly come to mind:
  1. That looks so "ghetto" and makes the car look MUCH worse than if the plate were just mounted on the car.
  2. That license plate in the windshield (whether attached with suction cups or not) is a bad accident waiting to happen--just a sharp-edged flying projectile, aimed at neck-level!

Just plain dumb, in my opinion....anyone else agree?

Thanks for this write up. I did this w/ my bracket plus I added 1/8" dense black weather stripping on the top of the bracket trimmed to the contour of the corners. It's very tempting to over tighten the toggle bolts. Looks great.

Very nice install. To late for me too as I did a Retractable License Frame. However, now I will be keeping my stock one for back-up.

Heres a front license plate mod that i've seen someone do which gives it a clean look installed and clean removed. He uses magnets check it out.
