The paint on my IOM 1SS is stoopid soft. I opened my driver's side door and RESTED it against the plastic turn signal cover on my wife's passenger side rearview mirror...RESTED IT...did it on purpose...didn't hit it...no force at all. I now have a ding on the edge of my door (invisible when the door is closed) and a bit of IOM paint on my wife's Jetta. At least I have the IOM splash guards and nothing on the front or sides yet. But this paint is stoopid soft!

Still, this car is freakin' sweet!!!!

For a Well done job...you're looking at 4k+

Or you could take it to Maaco and get their "best" paint job for about 1k...

OOOOHHhhhh NNNOOOoooooooooo ! ! !

Well, my car is all tore up. But it still looks good from 10 feet away and I still get people constantly commenting about how nice it is and so on. I think it is more how I drive than anything else.

Is my paint a little more fragile than the average paint. Maybe, but there is no way to know for sure. I don't plan on bitching to GM or ever having my car painted. It is in fact similar paint chipping to all the corvettes my Dad has had over the years (he gets a new one every couple years), but he drives his cars too and enjoys them and he is oblivious to the paint chips. He thinks it is normal and would NEVER even look twice at it.
