Terri, the only sensors guaranteed to work in your car are the original sensors in your OEM wheels. I think you'd be even more irritated if you went through all that trouble to buy new GM sensors and they gave you the same grief. The ones I sold you are direct GM replacements for the OEM part number. My CTS-V and my previous G8 GT also use the same sensor replacement part number. Never had issues in any of those cars.

I believe the same thing you do, something is wonky about the relearn process. It doesn't store or communicate with the sensors properly, after a few miles. LOL on the window tint explanation. Try driving home with the windows down next time to see. ha

Randy, your wheel drama is not the norm. Don't let it discourage you. Keep in mind that if you buy $6,000 worth of wheels from your local retailer you also pay sales tax on that total. Here in Texas, that would be $495 in tax alone. But, I agree that buying sensors and doing the mount/balance locally is probably the best idea.

Tony

Tony:
That is good to know. The problem is, that the dealer is constantly saying "if they aren't OEM sensors, we can't guarantee anything." I'm sure the sensors you sent me SHOULD work, but for some reason they're not working with my car. I'm with you, I think it's something in the car. Fortunately, I have found a service technician (Jeff) at my dealer who seem determined to make this work.

The only way I'd buy OEM sensors from my dealer is if they give up and say they can't fix the problem due to me having after market sensors. I just want to put the burden of making things work on them.

I will see if the new device that they put in the car (I guess it goes in the headliner - that's news to me!) fixes the problem. I'm going to be optimistic that it will.

I know I could just put up with the light in the dash, but one thing I have noticed is that these low profile tires on the 22" rims don't look much different when they are properly inflated compared to when they are very low on air. I think I'd really like to have the sensors working.

I am in no way blaming you, Tony, for these issues. I'm sure you sold me quality sensors. I am just trying to find out where the problem is so I can get it fixed.

Thanks for posting. I'm glad to know you're watching out for your clients.

By the way, I have had a TON of compliments on the car since I got the Savini wheels from you. Even at the dealer (where they currently have about 10 Camaros on the lot), when I pull in, a bunch of their employees come to look at my car and want to know where I got the cool wheels.

I'm sure this will get resolved. I just need to keep after it until it does.

After thinking about the TPMS issues I'm having, I've decided to order OEM sensors from my dealer and have them put in my new wheels. I ordered them this morning. I'll post back here when I find out if the OEM sensors fix the problem.

I can tell you that I've never had an issue with my sensors. The only time I have to have the system relearn is when I swap my 22's on for shows. When I first did it I didn't even realize there was a process so I put the stock wheels (with sensors) back on and didn't do anything. They relearned almost instantly. The last couple times I've done this I've had to hit the reset button on the DIC, but it relearsn them quick. I've never had to let air out of my tires til the horn honks or anything like that. That seems bizarre to me that some sensors would be having that many issues.

Not sure which thread is better to post in, but I wanted to post my experiences so far. I had some used 20" foose legends put on my car by discount tire about a month and a half ago. Last weekend my right front tire lost signal and I couldn't get it to relearn using the remove air method.
So, yesterday I stopped by a different discount tire to see about the sensor and a balance issue I was having with that same wheel. They called me in the shop to show me that the first discount tire banged up the paint on the wheels around the lugnuts, they didn't want to take the wheel off until I saw that they weren't the ones that damaged them.
About 5 minutes later they call me out to show me that the wheel that is having the issues is a little bent but said that it should balance ok. They got the wheel balanced and got the car to relearn the TPMS. I went to a buddies house about 1-1/2 hours away without any issues during the drive. When I left I got about 20 minutes away from his house and the tpms light came on again (coincidentally about the same area that it lost signal the first time) and stayed on for the rest of the drive.
So I read up on this thread and the other linked thread and decided to try and get it to relearn again. I pushed up the air in the tires to around 45-47 psi before trying to relearn since I read the fast release of air worked better for some people. I turned the car on and was going to do the relearn procedure, but somehow the car now reads all sensors. I let the air out to 35psi in each tire (checking the gauges to make sure it updated the correct tire), so far everything is still linking up. I'll let you guys know if it stays linked up after I put some more miles on.

FYI, the sensors on mine are from the original wheels...

Just wanted to update this, my right front sensor only works occasionally now. It sometimes relearns it without me doing anything, but usually only works for a day or so and stops working for a while. This past week it's alternated between working and not working several times. I'm going to take it in to discount tire again and see what they say, also I'll try to get a time scheduled at the dealer to get the update that was mentioned.

If you change your rims out use your old sensors it should be fine. Do not get new sensors

yeah, it's only one sensor that is causing issues. The same wheel I had to get rebalanced because it is slightly warped and wasn't balanced well the first time. I wonder if that could have something to do with it? Either way I'll let you guys know what the problem was when I get it fixed.
