http://www.kormanautoworks.com/E30M3racingtips.htm

And JFTR: If your CALIPERS are touching your brake rotors or disCs, then you indeed have serious problems, only the brake PADS should ever touch the rotors.
Haha good site. I believe it, and common knowledge says a couple laps on the track will heat the average set of brakes up so much to eat street pads completely to the point that they just don't function. Reading this it sounds like the caliper wont release, because of the pads melting into the rotors and digging in, but it is still spinning. The steel discs however have not melted and fused completely to the caliper (as per zforce). And people still use steel widely in endurance racing, not every race car has carbon composites.

Well zforce had the basic idea, terminoligy was just lacking.
And I thought your response to him was rather rude and condescending.

You know the reason I really like this site is it is seemingly so free of all the flame-fest, insult throwing, and e-thuggery behavior that you see in so many other boards. Most people here are VERY respectful and helpful. It would be a shame for this site to degenerate into what so many other boards have become.

And if you read his post it was rather rude and condescending to the OP. Its one thing to do it when you are right but when you are wrong and haven't even taken the time or thought to back up your remarks thats even worse.

This site is nice because there isn't so much of that, but its also the internet where opinions are like a-holes and information is prolific. If you are going to make a statement on a site filled with enthusiasts you should expect to be called on if it was wrong. The OP was and took it in stride, why you feel the need to single this exchange out I don't know but read the rest of the thread, and especially his post. You get what you give.

If we are talking about durability then Aluminum is more fragile than Cast Iron also, so maybe they should stick with cast Iron Engine blocks and exhaust manifolds and intake manifolds, then it will last forever, oh yeah forget about those aluminum pistons too...

O RLY?

However, that's not the same plastic, nor is it used the same way or subject to the same issues.

I don't think pep boys carries that intake. Plus, it might be a little expensive.

A plastic intake does have one disadvantage to it. one of the gear heads over at LS1tech.com did some research and concluded that at high valve lifts a plastic intake didnt flow as much as a metal one... so if you plan on putting a BIG HUGE cam with valve lift to suit an oil tanker WITHOUT having plans to replace your intake manifold then yes complain. complain that you plan sucked, horribly.

I'm pretty sure a FAST 90 will outflow the throttle and everything north of which anyways, so it wouldn't be the bottle neck.

I like my composite intakes. They make me happy.
