Is that a custom piece or is that available somewhere? I have been interested in adding something like that to mine.

EDIT: Never mind I can see now that the trunk was cut and can tell its a custom piece.

That's pretty damn brilliant. Is it flat (i.e. level when the car is at ride height) or is there a little bit of an angle to it, like in a lot of diffuser designs? Inquiring minds want to know.

From what I remember, the function of this piece was to reduce turbulence under the rear end of the car and also secure the bottom half of the rear fascia so the bumper doesn't act like a parachute at 200mph.

The piece has a slight bend in it (see the first photo) just past those two bolts in the middle that secure it to the fuel cell support frame. Then another slight bend to flatten it out right in front of the four bolts that secure the rear fascia to it.

A curiosity about this is the use of the splash tray or not...

I do not use the splash tray on my and I haven't noted any hood vibration worth mentioning at speeds over 200 mph...

It might be a one off issue as well...

No splash tray might be why your all good. I no of a car that was done at Baytown and had to be taken out and have the cut ribs glued to the hood to the stop vibration. When I asked Hex Vent they told me they havn't heard of any cases of vibration and the use on a adehive was not required. I don't believe them.

No problem! I will be installing the Hex Vent late March and I'll post the how to pic's in my build thread. I will be using a construction adeshive (Home Depot) when I install them to make up structal strength for cutting the ribs in the hood.

With the heat from the engine and the sun I wouldn't use anything but a high quality automotive grade adhesive.
