The alloy rad will probably be a little stronger, but OEM crimped plastic rads are pretty robust and will tolerate a lot of pressure. But I've blown both types open before
But yes the alloy one will...should be stronger, and of course if it's larger and cools better, then it makes perfect sense to use one.

Where the safety shutdowns will play their part, is reducing engine damage, and also reducing the amount of coolant getting dumped everywhere...on track, tyres etc.

If you can reduce engine power at say 30-40psi of coolant pressure that should be below the rad bursting, but still high enough that if you see that pressure, something is badly wrong.
Most rad caps will blow around 20psi anyway..

Obviously you'd need to do some testing to see what sort of pressures are normal before then applying any safety features.

Yup, correct t on all that..

The neat thing about the ProEFI system to my understanding is it looks for a spike in coolant pressure, more so than the total pressure... There are parameters where say if the pressure increases a certain amount in a given time it'll shut the engine down... Say as in a head lifting... The sudden increase set things in motion...

So in addition to buttoning up a lot of items today... My new Copo hood arrived. Nathan Moreno provided excellent service and this hood is flawless...

We did the initial test fitting and will complete that process after the front end is back on the car...

Other than a return fuel line, everything under the car is complete... Turbos and waste gates are installed... Trans, clutch, driveshaft etc... We spent a huge amount of time today fitting and running some very large hoses... There are two -16 hoses running from the motor to the tank behind the passenger seat... And a -12 hose running forward from the tank to the dry sump pump... Due to the location of the turbos, the exhaust, and the driveshaft, we were extremely limited in space... So... We got it... Most wouldn't like their location or routing but race car...

More on that later...

Here's a picture or two of the new hood...

What do you mean? That will come in handy when he long-hauls Power Tour in it, right? Right?

Yeah, nothing like towing your car through the toll booth and getting charged twice.

I'm joking, and saying he should long haul Power Tour by driving the Camaro.

She aint no trailer queen... unless I'm going over about 60 miles from the shop...

I need to visit a few Christianson Brothers shops and a few other oil filter, blinker fluid and wiper change shops with some random problem and let them open the hood.... The comments might be priceless...
