Now that is a 427!! I am old but that is Big Block Chevy at it's best. I know it is too heavy but man...back in the day...that was the motor to die for and with the closed chamber aluminum heads.....yum.

For anybody to go against you doing this would be silly. It would be your car and you can do whatever you want with it. That's what makes this enthusiast community so great. It doesn't matter, you own it. Likewise, for people to suggest that GM made a mistake releasing this car with the LS7 is equally silly.

But I for one would like the back seat which is why I am here. Looking to unload the Z06 for an LS7 powered Camaro.

I love what GM did but i hate the price.

I am up and down on if i will pull the trigger on one.

Being able to take my two little ones to the store or school in daddy's race car -can't do that in the Z06.

I will be in wait and see mode for a while on this. If i miss then i might keep the Z06 and buy a 1LE

the right cam will get you close to 550whp

How much would you actually want to push this car?

Where I get a disconnect is the it is being marketed as THE track ready car from the GM stable with very lofty promise of its capability vs other cars et al (ref the "kingdom-come" comment). Not even the new Vette came with such claims. Yet thus far I haven't seen performance numbers to back it up, albeit there have been only 2 so it is early days still.
I would also like to know how it stacks up against cheaper cars, like GM's own C7 Z51, as 20 grand (more or less) is quite a pile of change for me (and many others no doubt). So perhaps we sit and wait for more data to come out thru 2014, including the Vette's Ring time (which for some reason hasn't been released yet).

My opinion only here. This is what I think, not what I know. Main word in your post here is "Yet." I believe there is still work and test data to come on the Z/28, likely the best. I also believe you will see the C7 Ring time when this is released. GM probably has more work to do and is playing the "strategic release" of data game. Anybody that watched the Ring video can see there is a lot more to be gained. Also expect to see the gaps between to two Z's get much wider on smaller tracks. I have a ZL1 and personally love the car for my use. It's the best car I have ever owned. That said, there is no way that GM will release this Z/28, with all of the claims we have heard, without there being very wide jaw dropping gaps between it and the competition. I think when we get closer and start to see the real result, we will all say WOW. I could be wrong, but I can't see this going down other way.

Did you see the sale price of the last '67 L88 across the block, a few months back??? I'd be able to afford a 1/25th-scale version of a mid-year 1-of-20 L88...

...but yes, the 1-of-188 '69 will be soooooo much LE$$ expen$ive...probably around what Mr. Hendrick pays for Z/28 #1...and I'd frankly rather have the L88!

Rick already has a few of those...

no I didn't see that. I think this one that's at BJ was actually featured in Vette magazine back in the 90s.

I actually would never pay the required premium for carbon ceramic brakes, as it likely equals my whole annual track budget Good luck with your decision, I am sure you will land on the right choice given more useful info/data being released as the year progresses.

Well said and agree completely regarding awating the jaw dropping gaps.
If they materialize I will be the first to say: WOW, the car is worth 75Gs!
I may even buy it as I will be in the market for a new track car soonish..
But the 2 comparos offered thus far have me mildly depressed instead, given z28 ran on near slicks and ZL1 ran on full "streets". And C7 Ring time is "unavailable". So right now I simply don't have sufficient info wrt what car to buy. Especially given I don't have a money tree hence need to ensure I get the most performance VALUE out of a Chevy product line up. NB I know, I know I am repeating myself - must be old age
