Even worse, your accident involves another person, passenger, pedestrian, car, you are out in the breeze from a liability stand point even if the ignition had nothing to do with it. GM can say we tried, now you are a criminal in a US court.

I sat in my car today and I cant figure out how this happens. Maybe if the seat is up against the steering wheel your knee might get close but I am thinking if you are that close to the wheel your going to crash because you cant steer the car!

Like 85% of you, I won't be partaking in this recall. I love my key the way it is, thank you. Either way, my knee is nowhere near the key FOB/ ignition switch.

Someone here made a very good point. Most dealers are not equipped to make new keys themselves, and they would have to be ordered. So if we take our Camaros back for say, a 30-minute oil change, the dealer is probably not going to be able to whip out a new key/fob and say "Here's your new key, and we're keeping the old one." That is... unless they try to hold the car hostage until the new key comes in.

Sitting in my driveway I tried to hit the key with my knee. My leg hit the steering wheel be even getting close. I even turned the wheel so that the flat bottom was facing my leg to reduce clearance. Still not even close. I am 6' too. I checked my wife's Toyota and my leg is about the same distance. I really do not know what the recall is about?

GM how about a video showing someone turning the key with their leg. The seating position has to be very strange or the person very tall.

Yes, I'd like to see how they managed to cause the knee bump. I just don't see how they did it.

This issue does not bother me but what does is all these gadgets they are putting on cars to make them safer, like adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitoring, automatic braking. Just think if one of those fail to work...
Another thing about those , I don't think it will make safer drivers but worse drivers. They will start relying on these systems to save them and pay less and less attention to their driving. It scares me to even think about it.

Some people need those systems so they can text while they drive
