When you buy something you should have an idea of what you want, what you want it for and to do. I do a lot of driving and wanted more power, fun to drive, cool factor and good MPG's.(camaro replaced hhr panel) If a SC or TC come's out that fits my needs, modest boost without the need for alot of other mods, while maintaining MPG's I'll consider it. (I know STS Turbo is close) So yeah, if your joining the HP race, start with an SS. Add the SC, there goes your warranty, you can't max out a v8 also? There always someone with more HP and deeper pockets. Like I said, what do want and what do you want it to do? Oh, and Pumkin, words can be just as sexy...more so IMHO...so keep it up..no pun intended.

add 2 cylinders, lol
I know.... i wanted to go the whole FI route, but then i started talking to quite a bit of performance shops and realized the MANY troubles you go through with FI. the amount of worries. So then i began weighing pros vs cons and im pretty much settled on upgrading ot the SS or Z28. Honestly, with the FI route, sure youll get some good hp numbers, but the torque still stays relatively low which sucks. Not to mention tranny issues, etc. For the price youll pay to upgrade the v6, youll have already spent as much you would have to get the v8. to make matter worse, you void your warranty and you have a car that is just as fast as the v8. The SS shows some good numbers with just a few minor bolt ons, where the v6 doesnt. It just makes more sense, even though the thought of a killer v6 really floats my boat, it just doesnt make sense, atleast for right ow it doesnt.

It's more about where the torque really comes on in the RPM range that's important, and with a well tuned and designed FI application, well, where it comes on is almost entirely up to you. The Cobalt SS gets pretty much peak torque (iirc) around 2750 rpms, and holds on to that torque very well throughout it's powerband. with 2 less cylinders, and 1.6 litres less displacement. Since much of the same technology is used (and improved) in the 3.6 we use, I'm sure we could expect to see something similar once a well designed, fully tuned, supported and proven turbo or SC system comes to market. And, really...what the heck is a warranty? Is that the paperwork I shredded as soon as I got home from the dealer and started ordering parts for my car? (true for just about every car I've bought) Seems to be in the same realm of nonsense as "emissions laws" and CARB.

Of course you will see more torque with FI! Even with a centrifugal supercharger you'll see more... For example my V6 Stang with Vortech went from 170 RWHP / 205 RWTQ to 313 RWHP / 290 RWTQ. But a turbo on and you'll see a lot more torque.... and I mean a LOT more! Since no one is really running any kind of FI on our cars how do you know there will be issues with the rest of the drive train? I had 40,000+ miles with my Vortech without any tranny issues. And that was running the car HARD with sticky Drag Radials at the track! Where you get in trouble is when you get greedy and start upping the boost! FI kits are designed to give you plenty of trouble free miles... it's when you start changing pulleys or springs or putting sticky tires on that you can start to run into problems... You simply can't say that with FI you will have a lot of troubles... simply not true...

also, if you can get 400hp to the wheels, you'll be faster than an SS. Insurance will be cheaper, and believe it or not, as long as you don't smash the gas every time you shift, your gas mileage should increase.
