so arguing about who is better production wise after the 5.0 comes out is needless and stupid. you will buy whatever car you think is coolest. the end.......please close this thread

have you sold cars before? because if you did, you would know that the average person really doesn't give a squat about HP. Price is #1 above all.

not when it comes to MUSCLE CARS. if your shopping Mustang vs camaro obvviously you look at HP.

Yeah I'd say when you're looking at muscle cars you cross-shop them via their price range and performance.

However, like I said you have to wait for the other cars (and the GT's) information before the comparisons begin. Rumor has it the SRT is getting a 6.4, which would probably result in a bumped up R/T and who knows about the Camaro.

Though I'd like to point out I think all three are fairly close enough in terms of performance that people can buy the one they like best.

So the 2011 will be a ~3600lb car with 400 hp... should be a dead heat with the SS. the track pack gearing should push it ahead a bit though.

I'm sure the next improvement for the Camaro LS3 will be direct injection. that should bump up the power pretty good.

I am still uncovinced that weight will increase substantially if at all. The Chassis, driveshaft, and rear axle can all already handle far more power than the new 5.0L brings to the table in stock trim. First, we don't know that the Mustang doesn't meet those standards in 2010+ guise as, to my knowledge, Ford has not commented on the issue either way. That said, this car is currently expected to last through the 2012 model year at least and likely through the 2013 model year. The crash test standards you mention wont have to be met until the 2013 MY/2012 CY, which likely means this generation of Mustang will never have to meet those standards or, if they know they will be producing this car through the 2012 model year, it almost certainly was designed to meet them already.

Seriously, the whole safety issue weight gain slant on this is, IMHO, something a few insiders lurking around came up with to explain away the Camaro's weight and the buying public...well....bought it. It has been blown out of proportion.
