Ok guru's HELP I have a question. I just got my car back today I had cam and heads installed very happy with the numbers 492hp and 454tq however. I think I might of went a little bigger than I wanted. There is quiet a bit more bucking than I care for.
Specs are 231/247 113 I didn't want to go to small and be sorry lol. My question is if I decide to go smaller now can I just swap cams? What other parts would need to be replaced? Thanks

The bucking is in the tune sir! I see you already have a set of gears.

Man I would like to say so. I know they have done hundreds. The car is a beast but the bucking around 17 or 1800 is crazy.

Seams to be anytime its right under 2 grand mainly 1,2 gear Its pretty smooth above that.

I agree with Litle88. It's in the tune. Removing some timing down low can help. Getting airflow right could help if it's not right already. There are ways to tame it in the tune.

Good luck. If you switch cams, then you'll need new fluids, water pump and timing cover gaskets, bolts if you didn't get ARP, and maybe a new seal for the timing cover. The rest was money well spent.

the mechanic I am considering for my cam install is recommending 7.425 length push rods for my cam that I have not even bought yet. Now I know the stock size is 7.40 and worry this may be a nutsy thing as it would not let the lifter load up well with oil and such( pump up) as much. Anyone have their mechanic recommend a longer pushrod? this is supposedly the best guy around this area I have been able to find so far and has done other members cars. He quoted 1250 for a cam install, 550 for a dyno hp tune, and 300 for headers right on prices. I just do not want to have my cam done then immediately have problem with too long pushrods. I know they are critical and the ones they show with my cam selection are the stock length.
