What's the life span, reliability, of the scavenge pump? How do you know when its dying, what are symptoms and what happens when it dies?

I now people are going to say none have died yet or whatever, I am just looking for what happens IF it dies, or how do you know IF its dying?

If it dies you will know there will be a big smoke screen behind you, and it will fill your exhaust full of oil I found this out when I installed my kit and had a bad wire contact

AGP hasnt seen a single failure. Several running 100k+ miles.

If it dies, you get smoke out of the exhaust. You replace it, and move on. There is no perminate damage. You just go spy hunter style until you replace it. If for some reason you drove a ton with it out, you may need to pop off the downpipes/turbine housings and clean the oil out, but that would take a bit.

Considering your local, swing by and they can show you.

So no damage to the turbo if oil can't drain out? That is my main concern.

Nope. Just pushes oil past the seal. Seal is like a piston ring. It is just metal ring with a gap on the end. Doesn't "blow it out" or any crap like that. I'm sure Ben or Kevin could show you.

I know of one oil pump failure, but the common belief was that it was shorted out. Green machine bought his kit used from someone here on C5, I can't remember if the pump was bad when he got it, or if it went bad during or just after install. That is the only failure I know of. Most likely it was shorted out.

I can hear my pump inside the car with the windows up and the radio at a civil level.

That's a pretty loud pump then.. Do you ever find it a bit annoying?

Not being critical, just seriously considering the AGP kit.

Actually that's about the only complaint I have ever heard from AGP kit owners, the noise of the pump. It doesn't bother me one bit. But I am exaggerating a little when saying, I can hear it with the radio on at a civil volume level. It's more like low, real low volume of the radio. Truth is soon as I take off from an idle or stoplight, its gone.

I got used to it, and have come to love it.

At a stoplight, if your knowledgeable about cars, and know what to look for when looking at cars, The sound is a dead giveaway, that there is something else making power in the car. lol Lets face it, you pop the hood and all you can see is a 3bar map sensor, a tube that looks like a CAI, and some vacuum lines. Those that know about cars will know immediately what they are hearing and seeing, but those that dont......well they have no clue.

I love it when people want to look under my hood.......I giggle and say, yea, common ill show you. And then after I close the hood, tell them im right about 800whp. Most of them kinda shake their head in slight amazement, that nothing jumps out at them saying HEY THIS MAKES SOME KILLER POWER!

I am going to use Fraxum's idea, and paint my strut tower bar with the words saying, "There is nothing to see here"

Or get a Turbowerx Exa, they're very quiet. You wont hear it over the engine, standing beside the engine.

If it annoys you, which is a big if because I've this is a new thing I've ever heard of it, I'm sure Kevin can build you a noise shield or something since you are local.

I doubt you will find any other TT kits besides the one Grantelli kit I know in town, because everyone local runs AGP. Even the guy with that other kit wishes he had an AGP kit.

I have one of the earliest AGP kits and I never noticed the oil return pump until after the car was off and it was doing it's 30 second run to return oil.
