You can read and clear the code but don't think you can actually turn it off.

Yeah I kinda figured that. I'm just not at the point to where I want to spend $300+ for a tune when I will possibly need a new tune a few months down the road and then that's another $300+

That's where the tune helps. He can tune some of the richness out which will lessen the smell.

because RACECAR here too. blower plus healthy cam minus felines, yup...smells like old car idling. But sounds righteous. You don't smell it once driving, these cars seal up well.

Is there any major differences in quality between chrome and 304 steel? Chrome headers seem to be cheaper.

Chrome is an electroplating process. It will deteriorate. 304 will discolor, but won't rust. It will last a very long time.

It depends on what brand you're going with. You can get TSP 304SS headers for ~$550 and that includes off road pipes and O2 extensions. If you prefer american made headers, you can get a set for around $1k. It all comes down to how much you want to spend. Either way, there's no reason to NOT get 304SS headers. They will last longer than your car and won't rust. Chrome headers are mostly mild steel with chrome coating that will wear and rust.
