I have checked everything valve train related and can find nothing out of the ordinary except for the light spring pressure, If it's not light enough to cause lifter failure then I am thinking it's the lifters themselves. I am most likely switching to LS7 lifters with the new setup.

Any thoughts?
All lifters now are "Ls7" lifters.
Different cam with different lobes and a tear down of the engine. You've had way too much metal thru it IMHO.

Doesn't seem right to have this many lifter failures. I'm going with the GPI SS4, Biran Tooley springs and milling the heads. I'm not planning on pulling the motor at this point, I'm waiting for it to blow up good so I can build something a bit more radical. lol With the oil pan and windage tray removed I can get everything pretty clean, I've been flushing and blowing out all the passages I can, if anything is trapped in a galley then I'll find out when it goes KABOOM.

I'm still wondering about the spring pressure, seems kind of light. I don't think it's the cam profile I've been running, haven't heard of a lot of failures with it. TSP VVT-3

Is this Lifter issue isolated to L99 a VVT?
If so why not try a conversion maybe the cause is elsewhere.

VVT has nothing to do with it. It's the AFM lifters that are a problem. In my case I've already replaced the lifters with LS3 lifters. I have been doing more research and am still thinking the PRC valve springs fatigue quickly.

You might want to ask Rhino about those. GPI is division of Gwatney Chevrolet. I'm sure he knows what's different about them.

That's about right. Milling heads rule if thumb is .007" = 1cc

Waste of money including the Cadillac lifters (high rpm and very light valve train needed).

BTR has morel/Lunati link bar street lifters for ~350 no more plastic trays that can cause your lifter to turn.

I think that metal frags were still in the motor from the last.

Keep us posted. This SUCKS but it's still weird.
Also are you using Delphi or GM lifters?

Maybe a different kind? BTR, morel street lifters?
GM lifters are made by Delphi and one other company I forget right now.
