In Aug they will be CT Zone. Other than a certain areas they keep their time the same year round. At this time of year they are ET but in other words they do not observe daylight savings time, so everyone else moves but them. So in a few weeks when we go up an hour we who are on CT will catch up with them or in other words be the same time.

Central Indiana is on eastern time.

We do observe daylight savings time and will be going forward in the next month

That's how it used to be, but they've been assimilated. Time Zone changes somewhere west of Lafayette area

I'm still confused. I think what I'm reading is that Indianapolis will be on the same time that we are in August. We'll be on Eastern Daylight Savings Time and they will be on Central non Daylight Savings Time, so it will be the same time...........do I have that right?

No. They do follow DST in Indianapolis now, on EST, and EST DST. Still an hour ahead of CST DST

How's this. When we here switch to daylight savings time this spring, Indy will be central time. When we change our clocks in the fall, Indy is eastern time. Is that right?

LOL NO. Indianapolis now stays on EST, and DOES USE DST

Quote from wikipedia-
Quote:
Effective March 9, 2008 with the exception of twelve counties which observe Central Time, Indiana observes Eastern Time. The twelve counties observing Central Time are Jasper, Lake, La Porte, Newton, Porter, and Starke in the northwest, near Chicago, and Gibson, Perry, Posey, Spencer, Vanderburgh,

and Warrick in the southwest, near Evansville. [1]

Since April 2, 2006 all counties in Indiana observe daylight saving time.
