So I went back to the track this past Wednesday night. I ran a 12.918 at 112.21 MPH on my first run. My second run was a 12.831 at 112.02 MPH. That proved to be my fastest run of the night. I then ran a 13.125, a 12.958, a 13.024, and lastly a 13.305. My slower runs were with me launching at 3000 - 3500 RPMs. I think the ticket is to either roll out and feather it or rev to 2500 and feather it. Gonna try again next Wednesday. If I can get it right then I might be able to get 12.6 - 12.8!

What tire pressure are you running? I would think you would be able to get them to stick launching at 2500 RPM. What track are you going to? I'm curious what you're times correct to.

I'm at Old Bridge Raceway Park in NJ. Last week my 13.0 corrected to a 12.7. I haven't corrected my times from this week yet. I'm running the stock pressure of 36 pounds. The reason is that I wanna run it the way I drive it on the street. I was told to lower it to 32 psi but maybe I'll try 34 first.

I'd always drop mine to anywhere between 25-28. Had the best luck launching at 3000-3500. You've got way more mods than I ever had, seat time is your friend.

Yup! I'm getting better. I try to get one night a week practicing my launches in an old unused lot out here. Just for like 5 - 10 minutes. I never knew how difficult it was to launch a manual trans until last week.

Yep! Totally different than just being good at driving a manual. I have driven almost nothing but manual cars over the last 15 years and launching at the strip is very foreign to me. It makes perfect sense in my head, but I have no muscle memory to help me out yet. It's one of those things where you do worse the more you think about it while you're doing it.

I used to just practice "launching" and row through the gears in the staging lanes (with the car off of course)... I'd run through it 4-6 times or so watching the tach needle move in my mind and making reving noises... I grew up racing automatics all the time, so the stick was a learning curve for sure. About mid way through the second season of tracking the car, it almost became second nature and I didn't "practice" any more.

You're finding out why most fast and CONSISTENT 1/4 mile cars are auto's.

That is actually really good advice. If anything, the repetition will trigger muscle memory. I think I'll try that. Thanks.

Yea true. Back when I took my Mustang to the track I ran consistent 14.1s the whole night with no problem. Stick shift is a totally different animal. But its a lot more fun ripping through those gears!!

Just corrected my times with an online DA calculator. It comes out to 12.556 @ 114.531 MPH.

Buying a cam this week. Is the Night Fury cam good for turbocharged engines or engines with centri blowers? So far, TSP has recommended a custom cam with specs of 227/235 614/610 116 LSA and 4 degrees adv. Is this a good grind to go with or would the Night Fury be better. Plans are to go with a turbo in the future. Thanks guys!!

Despite what many of the fan boys on here think the same came is not ideal for both N/A and multiple forms of FI. Get a custom cam.

Yea I never been a fan of an off the shelf cam...I prefer a custom grind. But I was curious because I have seen soo many good reviews about the NF cam. I think TSP recommended good specs considering this will be a DD car with a turbo.
